OT - Help Needed - Looking for Music Club in West LA

I have a colleague coming into town on Monday and he has asked me where he could go to sort of wind down and relax, musically. It's kind of important to me. I am not all that familiar with the music clubs in LA. Specifically, he will be just south of LAX (El Segundo, Manhattan Beach, etc). Anywhere near by is ok, but not too far.
He likes mostly Jazz and/or Blues. He would like to hear some improv. He's been to he Baked Potato, but he would like it to be a little more hassle-free.

haven't been there in quite awhile, but the jazz bakery was cool. it's in culver city.
