Journey might just hit it big with Arnel.

America loves a Cinderella story. Arnel is just that. Plus, America loves Youtube. If the radio stations promote this thing correctly, it's a fantasy come true. People should eat it up. After All These Years might just be the song that brings Journey back to the liimelight. They've got a lot on their side with this deal.

I think its already started.

NPR did a show discussing Journey? Wth?

All they have to do is get some ggood songs out, promote them and sky's the limit.

I would tend to agree with ya, Rick, only it won't be radio. The guys sound like they've finally come into the internet age and it will be on You Tube or through the internet that this spreads.

Arnel will appeal just with his personality because he is SO excited and it shows, whether or not anyone hears any new music, if they see interviews with Arnel, they will be interested! :)

yes, just watched it put down 6 inches of snow while visions of vegas danced in my head.

depending on how they play it, it could go well...... as long as they don't say he won the lead singer position from a box of cracker jacks things should go well.

Yeah, it's pretty interesting what's going on and being talked about. I look back 20 some odd years ago when I knew Arnel and was good friends with Uly. I felt the entire band for that matter was excellent. My goal was so get them to the U.S. and put on some free shows like at Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco to get some publicity going. Back then I thought the entire band was capable of becoming a hit. But I was just a kid back then and didn't have the money or the means to actually do something like getting them over here so nothing ever became of my idea. Now that Arnel's in Journey and over here, it just completely amazes me that all this has happened. I've been wrong with basically everything I believed in and stood for in my entire life, dreams, goals, desires, relationships, points of view, careers, etc. but one thing I was right about was Arnel's capabilities as a musician and destiny. And what has happened over the last four months in regards to Arnel, Journey, and the concerts thus far only proves that this time I wasn't wrong. Fucking goddamnit, finally I wasn't wrong for once!

Journey still would has to contend with the fact that everyone in the mainstream world these days listens to pure bullshit

But , if they can get ahold of new media outlets like You Tube , make that work, and still manage to grab the attention of the crowd that buys CD's
they might just be onto a winner. Radio might follow. And , if they could make in roads again, and remind people how great Melodic rock can sound, it might be the start of somthing .

Anyway good luck to em in doing it, I'd like to see it happen, and I'd like to run around saying to young kids "Look dumbass, I was into Journey the first time it was really cool"

  .. Then I'd give you a rockout highfive.

Perry is the man, the originator. The creator.
Augeri was good, liked him, never got to see him, but always liked him, still do.
Arnel is like Rick said, a Cinderella story. Looks like a kid, with a big heart. Power vocals, that gives promise to the band.

Now that I think of it as a whole, back in the day, Perry rolled the stage. He left people wanting so much more...he ruled so much, people STILL are on their hands and knees for the guy.

Augeri had good stage presence , but the more and more I lurk around about the guy, he was blank, flat, and boring at times. Did the songs justice, and rocked on songs, but was missing the IT factor.

Arnel just gives the band a re-birth. He could have the Perry factor all along. I don't know about anyone else, but he just leaves me with wanting me. He has that gift of a musician that just makes you want to head bang at all times. Watching him in Vegas was just phenomenal. He controlled the whole show, made the concert feel like 5 min, and left you crawling back for more. This guy is the real deal. Journey hit a homer with this one..

Ooooo...that's got to be the hottest pix of Spears I've ever seen yet. I'd love her to be backed up against me like she is in that pix. Of course minus the underwear. Gives Spears a new meaning to me now. Thanks WIX!

I think the decisions from the management and the band itself are heading towards the right direction. It's all about money making. Journey can tour the world and they would make a lot of money just by exploring "You Tube" and the Walmart deal. It is less expensive plus the addition of Arnel makes them worldwide. If you look at the big picture, after they finish off the Europe tour, if they do at least two shows in countries and cities like Tokyo, Sasebo, Hongkong, Singapore, Sydney, Perth, Manila, Guam, Oahu and Maui, there is a ton of money to make. It could be an exhausting trip but it will pay off and regain their legacy and identity once again.

I also think that Arnel's contract is just a minimum contract. He probably would have sign the contract even though it is less than the minimum wage. The opportunity to work with the famous band, and getting the visa to work in the US alone it itself is a big reward for him. He is definitely living his wildest dream. All he needs to do is do what the band wants him to do and the rest will be history. On the flipside, Arnel needs to watch his back. There will be a lot of jealousy, and backstabbers out there. If I was him, I would'nt trust no one including his own posse. Filipinos got their heritage from the Spaniards and could be corrupt at all times.

Sushi Hunter, I feel you man. Only if you had money back in the day, you could have been famous by now and making plenty of money knowing what you knew and felt about Arnel's band in the 80's. I have seen Arnel's band in Olongapo and he is definitely the one. I used to hang out in Sierra club and Hot city, I don't know of they are still standing there, but what a memories it was.

I'm not sure about the famous part and all. I just wanted to have them exposed, because I believed 150% that they were awesome. Plus my parents were always asking me what I was doing over in the Philippines. I told them that I sing in a band when I am there. They didn't believe me so I had a number of hours video taped and brought that to them to show that I wasn't bs'ing them. They were shocked and then believed me.

By the way, I reviewed the song lists that I created when I had inventoried what was on each tape. Interesting that I have both "Lights" and "Separate Ways" included in the footage I had taped back then.
