Motley Crue plans to make a "colossal" announcement on April 15th in Los Angeles, according to a press release. All four members of the group will be present at a location yet to be determined for what the release hyped as "by far...one of the biggest music announcements of the year!!" The band is also launching a contest in which one grand prize winner from each major city in the country will be flown to Los Angeles to cover the announcement, complete with a chance to interview the band and have the interview broadcast live. Details can be found at the official Crue site.
The band is currently working on its ninth studio album and first featuring all four original members since 1997's Generation Swine. Bassist Nikki Sixx said in a statement, "Tommy's (Lee, drums) kickin' ass, Vince (Neil, vocals) sounds insane and (Mick) Mars is shredding on guitars. It doesn't feel like one song is better or worse than any other. It feels so good to be excited about something you've worked on so hard...I'm so excited for you all to hear it."
The album, titled The Dirt after the group's memoir of the same name, is tentatively due out on July 8th, with a world tour slated to begin around the same time.

It's their Farewell Tour, folks. And it's gonna be huge, not to mention insane. I love The Crue.

Better NOT be farewell.
Tell LEE to grow up, realize he's white and that his bread is buttered in the the crue, tell Frank Ferrano Sixx to get on ritalin, lose the ADD and resultant side projects and they can go on ad infinatum like DL or Aerosmith.
I'm pumped for this record, though.

That would be cool.

Although if it IS their farewell tour, I've never seen them, so I'll be getting my arse to a show!

Read the book?
INsane.
LOL funny, too.
And the controversial parts where all 4 are interviewed separately and you get 4 different (sometimes DRASTICALLY like in the case of Vince quitting/getting fired in '92) views.

Definately do, Krysta! Say what you will about em, they do kick butt LIVE. Recently received a boot of their Greensboro show where Nikki goes off on a security guard for roughing up a fan.

Vince and them calm Nikki down and continue on with the concert.

Got the 1987 Girls, Girls, Girls boot the other day. Hard to beat that show. Raw and unproduced Crue in their prime, unlike the Carnival of Sins DVD.

He's got his demons and acknowledges that.
He also does a ton for charity including his late daughter's foundation.

I'm not a huge Crue fan but I really felt sorry for the guy. That was one of the better episodes.

He went into the whole thing on The Surreal Life again of how he lost his faith in God over that and the torture over having caused razzle's death and MC Hammer of all people got him into a Christian Church (the cast had to lure him into the thing under pretenses I think), they prayed over him laid hands on him and helped him find some peace and strenth in his faith again. He broke down, Hammer and the congregation helped put him back together it was actually really amazing, came off very humble.
Since then (it was early '02) he's been telling the crowds "God bless you all" at the end of shows (it's on his live CD and the Carnival Of Sins set.
To the people here who resent religion being discussed, I'm not evangelizing, not cramming it down throats just saying MC seemed to help VN with it.

Vince was staying at the same hotel at Journey was in Cleveland in 2006 when Journey was on tour, and I got a chance to talk with him for a bit. He was VERY down to earth.
I walked into the bar and Jeff and Neal were talking to him, they called me over and Vince stood up and introduced himself. Very classy.

I saw that episode too. It's funny, it seems like every season there is at least one celeb I knew next to nothing about and came away liking. Like Vince, another one was Conseco......seemed pretty down to earth and a lot funnier than I thought he would be. Him and Carey Hart posing in the women's lingerie cracked me up!

A couple of the other celebs that Conseco and Hart had to put up with were pretty scary.

I had a job in high school riding shotgun with the driver of a Culligan delivery van. THe guy would play a tape of Theater of Pain everyday as we crisscrossed the southern Minnesota countryside delivering water tanks . Home Sweet Home got stuck into my head and got me into hair metal.
Recently, I ve seen the Crue twice- they were great when i saw them in 05 - Carnival of Sins tour/ UK leg.
I saw them at the hammersmith apollo in London last year and less impressed. Nikki Sixx was the only one really on his game.
Good or bad, I'll look forward to seeing a new concert and a new album.

I'm thinking either that or that the Generation Swine Album wasn't such a good idea after all. I've not heard Crue doing jack shit at all for what seems 10 years. Is this the way it goes, a band doesn't seem to be around for a decade and then they come out and do a "farewell" tour? After an extended number of years, I just assumed that the last tour was the farewell one.

Lived in Kasson Minnesota, near Rochester. Born in SD, moved there when I was 12 and spend my high school years there.

Had front row seats to that tour with G'n'R opening, right before Guns broke big. Amazing show...

My guess is that they are going to reveal that Vince Neil is actually a shemale.
