I've been hearing about this, and just saw a trailer for it attached to the "I Am Legend" DVD. Actually looks better than expected! My friends and I were huge fans of the original movie when it came out -- even had a poster in our apartment, which was our favorite piece of "art"... haha! It looks like they've really tried to recapture the feel of the original.... perhaps too much, as a few scenes seemed like virtual redo's from the orignal. I like a little familiarity, but don't like it when sequels lean too much on it.
Still... I'll have to rent this when it comes out!

Exactly..total classic. I play this all the time. What made this movie so good was the people who played the roles. This is one movie that I just cannot see the sequeal being anywhere near as good..but because of how much I love the first one..I am sure I will still rent it.
I'm quite surprised..never expected this really to even get off the ground.

Isn't this part of the reason the two Corey's had a recent falling out?

My beautiful wife used to be a manager at that same comic book shop where Sam buys his first vampire comic book. In the movie, it looks like the shop is on the boardwalk but that's movie magic, the shop was in Downtown Santa Cruz, CA. The 89 Earthquake damaged the original shop but they relocated to different part of downtown.
Santa Cruz has a crazy vibe to it and when walking the streets late at night, if you look high on the rooftops, you may see people watching you...like they're vampires.
While that may seemingly be frightening, if you can convince yourself that it's just probably a game of Dungeons and Dragons in real time, then you should be A-OK.

Didn't care for the original...It'd be nice if Lou Gramm did another tune for the sequel, though.

Originally, Haim was attached to this project, then suddenly he was not. I couldn't imagine why, as his name would add even more credibility to it. Maybe it's because he got fat...

No Coreys, no me for this one.
And I know one makes a cameo but I needed the Coreys, Sutherland, the other Frog brother and possibly Patric back, maybe Jamie Gertz, too.

I'll probably see it, but I don't think it could be as good as the first one. Wonder why so many years later. It needs Kiefer.
Why do they show a Corey here???

I think Corey Feldman is the only original cast member in it. Figures, the only one I can't stand.

I'll probably see it, cuz I loved the first one so much.....but I'm sure it won't come close to as good. I'm with JoePa on this one, it needs......Sutherland, Patric, Haim, Gertz (and throw in those long-haired 80s vampire friends of Sutherlands

).
Fabulous soundtrack!
Love "Good Times" from Inxs & Barnes.

The first movie was a true original and the coolest thing of its time -- long haired, rock and roll vampires! We were totally pumped up for the film well before it hit theaters. I doubt too many people could appreciate it if they saw it for the first time today, because it would definitely be 80's era cheese (especially the mullets and the electronic drum-infused bombastic soundtrack), but if you think about it, so would Flashdance and many of the youth-targeted movies of that era.
I think Corey Feldman is a major player in the film -- not just a cameo, though he may show up later on or towards the end. I really enjoyed the trailer, though, and at least give them credit for retaining the flavor of the original. I just hope they don't rely t-o-o-o-o-o-o-o much on nods and winks to the first film that it's nothing more than a modernized ripoff of the original. Some of the scenes in this trailer kinda give that impression. That was one of the problems that killed for me another film I was highly, highly excited about -- "Escape From L.A.", which took what was a semi-plausible cult classic and turned it into a cartoonish lampoon of itself which ripped off the same plot and gimmicks of the first film. I was incredibly disappointed...

Hmm... the one I saw on the I Am Legend DVD was a good bit different -- it ends with Corey Feldman holding two wooden stakes and asking, "Who ordered the stake (steak)?" LOL!
Here's the reason Corey Haim isn't in the picture... kinda unfortunate:

IMDB is quite frequently wrong. Keep that in mind.
I'll still be renting this (as will ALL of you, unless you live in NY or LA, I'm sure...)
"Kill your brother...you'll thank us in the morning!"

Now I'm reading reports that Corey Haim is INDEED in the film... guess we'll see! Also, Kiefer's half-brother Angus Sutherland is in it (as a vampire, I guess).
