"Approach" Axe - By Suggestion

Following the Suggestions of a few people here, I went with a different piece of Christopher Payne's artwork (I still have not gotten any feedback from him to know if he approves or not, I would think he would) and this time used Neal's signature...on neal's guitar... Mind you, I do not HAVE Neal's signature but it was readily available on the internet.
Thoughts on this second piece?

If he actually read that - I'd be impressed. Sadly, my work goes relatively unnoticed by those who I pay tribute to.

Oh I'm sure....but again, sadly, it'll never come to fruition - it's all in good tribute - I had a poster of a guitar that I made for EVH (a full size 4 X 6 Foot poster) at a VH Concert in 2004....and Eddie acknowledged it from the stage, and that's about as far as I ever got or will get...but hey...Neal..if you're interested...PM Me

Does that guitar have the same electronics that Neal plays? If so, unless he has a deal with some vendor, I don't see why he wouldn't unless your price is different.

That is a Neal Schon Les Paul - it's THE guitar he plays....and I wouldn't charge a DIME...legally I don't think I can..it's not my artwork. I'd just want my picture taken with Neal, Christopher Payne, and the Guitar.. Like I said...I just pay tribute to those who's music I have taken to heart...and Neal's one of them.

Wow. I don't know all the ins and outs of a professional musician but why any one of them would pass this up is beyond me. Have you posted this at the Generations forum at the Journey website?

Never been there - not much of an "official forum" kinda guy. People at those boards don't take too kindly to adverse opinions about their band...and like it or not - I'm a "positive/negative" kinda guy. I love journey, but i"ll be the first to say "he fucked that up that night" - and they don't like that...so I tend to stay away from official sites....just because, honestly, there's better people here, and the information tends to be more reliable.

Yeah, I wouldn't make it very long there either I don't think.
Am I being puerile here? Why wouldn't Schon go nuts after this axe?

Better question. Why WOULD He?
Put yourself in his shoes. He's 54 years old, and he's been playing on stage give/take 30 years...he's been world famous that long...and he knows it. How many people you think do crazy shit like this? Just "pay tribute" with stuff like this. I don't think he honestly cares....he'll look and say "that's cool" and go back to his band... I've met a LOT of people....connected with a LOT of bands, and IN a LOT of bands.....and in ALL the people I've ever met (and there've been a lot) - only two have ever NOT presented themselves that way....one was Sammy Hagar...the other was Kenny Rogers...

Unless there are contractual issues with some guitar maker, I think he would be nuts not to contact you about it.
What does he pay for a guitar that he tours with?

First - there probably ARE contractual issues with a guitar maker...namely Gibson. It's Les Pauls that he tours with, and he probably doesn't pay a whole lot for them, as it's got his name on it..they're making tons of money off of it....second, it wouldn't be me he'd need to contact. It's the artist who did the artwork...which is Christopher Payne... Like I said, I'd love to take credit...but I can't...all I am is a great photoshop artist...the real artist did the work...and all I'd want in return is a picture with the man himself....I'm just a fan man...seriously. I do my praising through photoshop and "Venom Nation"

Now that's what I was talking about in that other thread. Don't see why NS wouldn't go for something like this. Again, I think everyone's instrument should be personalized...not just the drums.
Put your ideas over on the official site. You never know what'll happen.
Christopher Payne and others have taken that chance many times.
