Didn't realize this was being done until I saw the promo pics last weekend. Looks like they've tried to maintain a look faithful to the classic Lon Cheney, Jr. film!

Benecio is one of these guys with -- how can I say it -- an enigmatic appearance. He generally does look pretty rough, like he's strung out or been hitting the bottle too much, but there is a charm about him, too. He's one of those actors that you just kinda want to watch and analyze. And I don't really get why.

Rip, your right he's different/unique......kind of like Perry that way, not the most attractive men on the planet.....in that chiselled bon jovi type of way.......but just exude sex appeal. And hellooooo, he's Latin...........most Latin's must be born with an (extra) sexy gene.

Halle Berry's thoughts on him while working on "Things We Lost In The Fire".

"He's an actor who plays dark and brooding really well," Berry said in a telephone interview from Los Angeles, "but his sexuality and his sex appeal have always shown through his work. As a woman, I was always intrigued by how this guy could be so brooding and menacing and be so sexy at the same time."

Truth is, this guy is just like Soto. Since he's a star, he's hot.
However, if he was 'joe the pizza guy', then you wouldn't pay any attention.

Joking, right?
Did you think the 'smack'd out junkie Tyler in NY' was hot, or the Aerosmith Tyler was/is hot?
Point is, there are people you see every single day, that look just as good (or as bad) as anyone. But if they become some pop idol, rockstar, or celebrity for whatever reason, then all of the sudden, they're hot. It's the fame & fortune on whatever level that does it.

How many out here knew Del Toro before stardom?
How many out here knew Soto before Schon?

How many knew Billy Bob Thornton before Angelina Jolie?
Maybe he's not 'hot', but she is. And Brad Pitt is getting sloppy 2nds, no?

I agree with Ark on this one 'cept while women may still notice these guys in regular jobs, at most it'd probably just a fling. "Goin' slummin" I think its been called.

The star factor is a MAJOR plus on their appeal. I mean look at Taranchinno. Ugly but he's been with some good lookin women.

As for Del Toro, he's an excellent actor. Awesome in Traffic, Frankie Fingers in Usual Suspects, etc. I catch everything he does. He's been described as the Spanish Brad Pitt

Yep. Brad Pitt as the mullet wearing high school guy in Springfield Missouri, probably wasn't near as hot as the Hollywood Brad Pitt, no?

Btw, no slam against JSS. He's a tremendous talent and probably well-respected in the biz. And that makes him 'hot' to all the female fans...and probably many guys too. (Not me...I don't play for other team.)
