I must say, I'm not THE penultimate Dokken fan...I'm sure we all know who that is around here....but does he NEED another plug from me...naw... Anyway.

That having been said, I do indeed own a great majority of what Dokken has released as a band, and what George has put out with Lynch Mob...and "Up From the Ashes'' from Don himself....but I can't recite it or claim that I specifically know it all....but I'll admit the man makes some damn fine music (I don't know a member of that band, past or present, who isn't extremely talented).

Tonight I was...well....I "obtained" a press copy of "Solitary" from friend at radio..- I'm not sure how long this has been out...if it's even out..it was just in a stack that he gave me, which he usually does about once or twice a month, and shy of the new sevendust album, it was the only thing that caught my eye of the stack of about eight discs... I wasn't aware of it being actually RELEASED...just in concert, and later digitally at Don's online presence...but I must say, however it is obtained, it's definitely worth a listen....particularly if you're after a change from what you'd expect from Dokken (the band, or the man). I must say, it's a nice change...it's pretty mellow, pretty laid back...kinda got a "shaw/blades" type thing goin on....a great acoustic base to the entire CD, and I don't recall much electric on the disc, save for "Someday" - which is very well done.. had the electric solo in that song not been present, I can't imagine it being the same song..

If you guys haven't heard this...it's good...it's actually good...and as I said I can't claim to be a huge "fan" of the man or the band (not a slight...just a statement), but this is kinda cool to hear him 'chill out'' for a few minutes....or nine songs...however you choose to count it.

Now..if Shaggy really comes through for me with that advance copy of "Lightning Strikes Again" that he says he WILL get me...soon...well...then me and Mr. Rokken might just have to have a little pow wow...
