YIKES!!!

RIKKI ROCKETT, POISON DRUMMER, ARRESTED FOR RAPE:

March 27, 2008

The drummer for 80s glam band Poison was arrested on a rape warrant issued out of Mississippi as he arrived at LAX after getting off a flight from New Zealand, police said.

Rikki Rockett, 46, was arrested Monday at the airport and booked into the Los Angeles County Jail, according to Los Angeles police and the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department's Inmate Information Web site. He was held on a strong-arm rape warrant stemming from Neshoba County, Missisippi, and appears to have been released from L.A. County custody, the Sheriff's Web site shows. His status today could not be confirmed.

Details about the warrant were not immediately available. Messages left with state police in Mississippi went unanswered.

According to the online Web site Wikipedia, Rockett was born Richard Allan Ream in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. He has worked as a hairdresser, lifeguard, dishwasher, Emergency Medical Technician and a suit salesman. He rose to prominence in the 1980s when he co-founded the band Poison with vocalist Bret Michaels.

In late 1993, Rockett discovered that the then guitarist Richie Kotzen of Poison was having a relationship with Rockett's fiancee at the time, Deanna Eve. Kotzen was fired due to this incident.

Yay, another reason to hate Poison. 8)

One of the least-talented bands of this genre (well, except Kotzen) and highly overrated.... sick to see this....

That said, I do like three Poison tunes: Nothin' But A Good Time, Fallen Angel, Ride The Wind.

And sometimes I catch myself listening to Stand, I Won't Forget You, So Tell Me Why, Talk Dirty To Me, etc. if they come up on shuffle.

Those guys aren't hurting for chicks... Makes you wonder why he might do something stupid like this, if it really happened. You never know... plenty of crazy groupies out there who might make something like this up to get attention or money.

Has nothing to do with sex or otherwise. It's a power issue.

Maybe I misunderstood the info I just read or it wasn't enough talk on the show about it for someone here to bring it up.

I thought there were Stern fans here?

If anyone heard it..what was said..

A strong arm rape? Never heard of one of those before. So what's the difference between a plain rape and the strong arm one?

Without breaking the aspects of Rape down to specifics, one thing is certain.

Oh... understood, and I agree totally. As for Rikki, I've never really seen him as that type of person, but I guess time will reveal the truth.

It will be sad if it's true. They along with other bands were part of my teenage years.

I think that's exactly what it means. Here is a brief description of the different categories, described in a blog on prison rape of male inmates, though I'm sure the terms apply overall.

Based on my experience the most common kind of rape in prisons today is the confidence rape which involves the rapist getting the confidence of the victim and then at some point turning on him and raping him. In my opinion the next in frequency would be the date rape where one inmate convinces another to double cell with him and then at some point rapes him. The next would be extortion rape followed by drugging rape and finally strong arm rape. The reason strong arm rape is the least frequent is because it is so much easier to rape an inmate using the other techniques.

he meant for it to be weak armed but put to much muscle into it so its strong armed rape.that lil bit of extra pressure could mean the difference between him spending the night with michelle after a poison show or spending the night with michael in the showers at the penis facility.excuse me,penal facility.

to be serious i doubt that rikki rocket really raped anybody and especially in of all places mississippi? this guy has about 30 to 40 groupies a night to choose from backstage after a show not to mention playing in a band lots of women love so i definitely think this is some sort of blackmail or something on the part of whoever swore out the complaint.i could be wrong but c'mon.also from seeing him in interviews rikki definitely doesn't come off as the kind of guy who would do something like this.

I agree completely.

I was never a Poison fan at all, but I have had a couple of very pleasant run-ins with Rikki. First was at a private dinner party for Rikki and artist Mark Williams, held during Comic-Con here in San Diego about ten or twelve years ago to promote the line of comics they collaborated on during some Poison "down-time."

A music publicist friend of mine was handling PR for them, and he called and invited me to attend the event, held at the now-closed Planet Hollywood in Horton Plaza near the San Diego Convention Center, where Comic-Con is held.

I took my son and a friend, and we were lucky enough to be seated right by Rikki and Mark for dinner...Rikki was very cool and pleasant, and signed copies of the full series of his comics for my son.

A few years ago at the NAMM show in Anaheim, I ran into him again, at the booth for the custom drum maker he was endorsed by at the time. Again, very pleasant, spent a good half-hour talking to him there.

I'm going with "innocent until proven guilty" for this one...sad to see how some are primed and ready to crucify the guy before he's had a chance to defend himself.

I'm with you John~There are too many women out there using this ploy for money, revenge or whatever. It is not only sad for the men that MAY be innocent, but for the women that are TRULY raped!!! Not saying that this is the case.....let justice prevail (if that's possible).

Same here... Met him a few years back at a Metal Sludge gig featuring Faster Pussycat, Pretty Boy Floyd and Enuff Z'Nuff. Poison was also in town for a separate concert the next day, and Rikki and C.C. stopped by our venue for a while. Got pictures with both, and C.C. and Rikki ended up joining in on an extended jam with other band members (and fans) at the end of the show. What a great time!

No doubt about it. Anyone that cries wolf like that deserve to be stoned in public. I'm sure America has a state that condones that type of punishment?.

Although being a "nice guy" means absolutely NOTHING, when it comes to one's pre-disposition to commit a crime, I'm with johnroxx on this one. I have personally known two guys who were falsely accused of rape, and it's a HORRENDOUS thing to be accused of. Fortunately, in both cases I know about, the women retracted their stories, but it didn't change the ordeal these guys were forced to go through. The fact that women who falsely accuse men of these heinous acts are never charged with a crime is unconscionable, to me!
