Hmmmmmm.....

Hey, all... 8)

Heard a song on the way home....for the LIFE of me, I never heard it before, so I can't tell ya what it was...
But, I KNEW it was Paul Rogers....like Steve, there's NO MISTAKING that voice...

Anyway - my point:

If SP sounds like THIS guy now...lower reg and all....that'd be most cool...and hey - Steve lists PR as one of his influences!

Found this - VERY nice - oh, and some guy named Neal is on guitar...enjoy! 8)

Love his voice. One of my all time favs next to Perry but for Journey .... Nah... I dont think it fits the old Queen material myself. I guess it sounds ok. I am interested in hearing their new stuff though....

Paul Rodgers in Journey???? Um, NO FUCKING WAY! The dude can't even sing Queen's catalog, let alone Journey's catalog!

Great video, never saw it before. I think that's the most I've ever seen of Slash's face.

I also love PR's voice but I just can't see him fitting in Journey. I think he did ok with Queen's music...never gonna be another Freddie. Just like there's never gonna be another SP. They have to do the best they can if they want to go on I suppose.

John...seriously...why do you take virtually every opportunity to slag off PR? Not liking his style is one thing, but this is becoming a "dead horse" situation, IMHO...

BTW, I agree his voice isn't suited for the Journey catalog. However, he clearly has something to offer with Queen's music...or at least a good chunk of it. If he didn't, Q+PR wouldn't be plotting another big tour...

;^)

I don't know what exactly the word "slag" means. That said, I think the guy SUCKS ass as the lead singer of Queen! Is that a sufficient enough answer for you?

johnroxx wrote:Not liking his style is one thing, but this is becoming a "dead horse" situation, IMHO...

Well, it's a message board. You're certainly entitled to your opinion, and you're certainly welcome not to read my opinion, if they bother you that much!

That's your opinion, and once again, you're entitled to it! The fact that he's touring with Queen doesn't legitimize the guy as a competent lead singer for Queen. It simply means that Queen is trying to "milk" that money cow for as long as they can, just like Journey is doing!

JSS sang Queen stronger. So I don't have to buy.

Speaking of dead horses, I'll say it again...it's time for something different and new.

New supergroup:

Paul Rodgers
Neil Schon
Tommy Shaw
Jack Blades
Deen Castronovo
You choose a keyboardist.

Tour, playing original stuff, Bad Company, Journey, Styx, Damn Yankees & Night Ranger. That'd be the shit there.

I'd be all over that. Provided of course that NEAL Schon showed up

That would be INCREDIBLE. Toss Fitz or Cain or one of the Toto guys or something on keys... wow, that'd be amazing.

Apologies to NEAL and all Journey fanatics that can't stand the fact that people type his name with the wrong spelling. At least I had Dean Castronova...err...Deen Castronovo correct. I'd go with Greg Rollie on keyboards by the way. Shit...I meant Gregg Rolie.

Paul Rodgers is on my top 5 list of all time greatest rock vocalists :!: Would I like to see him in Journey? Nah...

That video is from the Live Bad Co. DVD "Merchants of Cool" from about 3 or 4 years back. If you like Paul and Bad Co., it is a very nice DVD to have in your collection. Lots of backstage footage with Neal there. There is a quote from Neal on there referring to PR - "It's nice to play the blues with somebody who knows how to sing the blues" - that stirred up quite a bit of controversy when this DVD originally came out. I personally don't think Neal meant it as anything other than a compliment to Paul and not a slight against any "other" singer he has played with over the years. However, some people took as a jab at ......

That would be awesome! But I'd rather see Neal Schon, Sammy Hagar, Deen Castronovo and Michael Anthony put Planet Us back together.

But don't get me wrong, besides Journey I'm also a huge Night Ranger and Paul Rodgers fan too.

The '93 Paul Rodgers band with Neal & Deen kicked ass. With some patience you can find live bootlegs online. Ahh the days when Neal remembered how to rock.

Old Bad Co, Free & Hendrix tunes. No Open Arms on that tour.
