Anyone interested in vinyl? Today I was sight seeing with my friend from Japan and we came across a used record store that has virtually millions of records. No shit! A two story victorian home with nothing but wall to wall & floor to ceiling vinyl. So my friend is looking at a few of the first pressings of the first Rasberries album and I get to looking at the selection of Journey albums. Seems they got some really old stuff in there. I looked at an album called "Next" which I think from memory was printed in 1975. Cain and Schoen were both members at that time, only four total made up the band. This place has close to a dozen other albums there of Journey. If anyone is interested in getting their hands on some of these old albums, I'll provide you with the owners contact info. He gave me his business card after talking to my Japanese friend. Also if there are other things you are looking for that are hard to find items, I'm sure this guy has it. It's most likely going to cost you though since he mentioned some of the harder to find items are a bit more expensive. Oops...I just did a little bit of research on Wiki and found that "Next" came out in 77'. So the one I mention above that was printed in 75 must have been the second album I picked up and was studying which was "Journey." Either way, I'm quite amazed that the guitarist and bassist is still kicking it on stage after 30 some odd years. Tells you quite a lot about them and their talent.

I love vinyl and have all my Journey on vinyl through the GHs record. Cain was not a part of Journey for Next, that was Gregg, Neal, Aynsley and Ross.

I would loike to see Journey release Revelation on vinyl and a double LP...that would be a collector type thing. Make it limited edition, maybe signed by all the guys! Could be fun.

Just got back into vinyl a couple months ago...avoided it for a long time because I knew it would be bad for my bank account, but it still sounds great. Picked up the new Springsteen album on vinyl, and it's light years better than the horribly mastered CD version.

When I was visiting friends in Cali, they took me to a huge record store in Hollywood called Amoeba. Huge, 2-story place, lots of old, rare/collectable vinyl.................cool.

A while back a made a find at a local Goodwill on some used LPs...even found one that had never been open! I love stuff like that. I could spend hours in the used Record shops arouond here...but you are right, the bank account would not be too forgiving, nor the wife!

We just got back home right now from San Francisco. We stopped off at Amoeba while we were there. It's the one on Haight St. He picked up two albums to bring back to Japan and add to his collection "The Kinks - Celluloid Heroes" and "Egg - The Civil Surface." After we browsed around in the store for a good hour, we took off on foot and walked to the corner of Haight & Ashbury so I could take a photo of himself standing there. There is a sizable "Dead Head" following in Japan from what I understand.

..if you found "Next" with Jon Cain on it you should buy it... its a rarity...

Sorry....Cain's the keyboard player, I meant the bassist. I'm still learning these guys' names. Seriously, before Arnel joined it, the only person I knew by face and name was SP.

I know that store as well. I go to the one right off 880 in Hayward.

Probably. I don't shop around for music anymore to tell for sure though. I did notice that the vast majority of all the used cd's went from anywhere between $4.99 to $7.99. That's still cheaper in most cases when purchasing something through ebay, considering the handling and shipping that goes with those online purchases. Amoeba had a bunch of albums that had the cd and a DVD as a single package unit for right around $16.99. I noticed lots of Depeche Mode remastered album packages included this additional DVD, both Violator & Music for the Masses were available in that package deal. Huge collection of David Bowie items to choose from as well, seemed he had the most compared to others. Him and Aerosmith. Amoeba seems to carry a very large quantity and selection of local and underground band material, not just the main stream and top 100 stuff like Best Buy does and places like Tower used to do.

If any of you have a Rhino Records around they have really good prices on new and used records. Ten bucks will get you five used albums in really good condition.
