OT: Venom Nation Is Going "Global"

The time has come for me to finally be able to tell you all what some users here have known for a few weeks….and I can tell you in detail.
Beginning Saturday, April 19th, 2008 Venom Nation, my radio show that many people here are fond of…is going global.
I’ve been offered, and have accepted, the opportunity to have my shows broadcast in a weekly timeslot at one of the world’s leading and most popular streaming internet radio sites, KQLZ.org, Pirate Radio. Venom Nation will occupy a two-hour time slot in prime broadcast hours, 7-9PM Pacific time (U.S.), 10PM-12AM Eastern Time (U.S). We have also begun the task of setting up a special timeslot four our listeners in the UK. “Double Shot of Venom” as it will be called, will air early morning in The U.S. broadcasting prime time, Saturday evening in the UK.
The show will be streamed via the KQLZ.org web site, and will be available for download, as it is right now….via Megaupload, from the show’s home site, Venomnationradio.com, the Venom Nation MySpace page, as well as this site, and several other major forum outlets throughout the world, as they are right now.
As of right now, the show will be new on a bi-weekly basis, repeating on off weeks, unless I am able to balance the juggling act that is my life, school, and work to enable myself to pull off a show a week.
There will be some format changes to the show, but the show will feature AOR, Rock, Metal (not thrash, but good metal) and Hair Metal, along with options for Classic Rock, generally from the 70’s, 80’s, some 90’s, and more recent from the artists that ruled those eras and genres, with more recent releases. The show will feature several new segments, and the return of some old segments longtime listeners will be familiar with…as such:
Common Thread: This is pretty easy...in concept. It won't be easy to guess the outcome. We'll play a group of songs, somehow related to one another in some obscure or relatively unknown manner. The first person to email us at the request box and tell us what that relationship (the common thread) is between the three songs gets to pick the opening song for the next show! We'll do it by timestamp on the email, just to be fair!
Kicked Up Covers: Know what Joan Jett did to Tommy James? Metallica did to Seger? They "kicked up" the covers! And each show, we'll bring you some kicked up music that takes the original, nipple-twists it and then laughs in its face!
Wuwuzat!? Actually, that's a DLR Band song...but....for our purposes, it's soliciting a reaction. We'll play you a song that you've probably (most of you) never heard, from a band that probably (most of you) never heard of, and it'll make you go...WHOA...wuwuzat!? (what was that?...get it?). And of course, if we're feeling generous, we'll tell you who it is.
Block Party! Know those 3AM things where the whole neighborhood is involved and (as BA says) waking up the neighbors. Yeah. That's not this. THIS..is a block of classic music with no way to know where we're going with it,.. it could be all one artist…it could be all one genre…it could be all one style of music….all deep cuts…all songs about one particular thing...There’s no way to know. So each show we'll take a spin on the Venom Nation ''wheel of misfortune'' and see just how to throw you 3 greats, all of a certain "theme" etc.
Stripped: Just like it says. Like Jenna Jameson. No not really. But we have an extensive library of great metal songs with the guts ripped out and straight up acoustic sounds plugged back in. We'll stitch it all back up and play it for you, each show! One Guarantee: NO "More than Words"!
I am also considering bringing back several spoken segments from more recent times on the show.
We have upgraded ourselves in every way to prepare for this show launch. We have upgraded our recording equipment to full digital, using Adobe Audition, upgraded the microphone to allow for better reaction and sound quality, re-allocated part of my office to ensure proper ‘studio” sound, and have garnered professional vocal talent to do voiceovers and radio “liners” .
Listeners will be able to contact me via one of SEVERAL ways, email, and three different instant messengers ID’s to make
requests and comment on the show. The show will be based, as much as possible on listener requests.
The show is still “mine”- the folks as KQLZ (and fine folks they are) will have no DIRECT impact on the show content, but they will, however have the final say in whether the show airs, so it will be within a few of their “qualifications” for sound and content (more language than anything).
I have four “staff” members (though not paid, they are great help) that continue to provide valuable feedback, suggestions, and content for the show.
Your requests will be greatly appreciated. I want to thank all of you well in advance for the support going forward, and express my heartfelt appreciation for the support you have given me in these ‘endeavors’ over the past five years. Without you, my listeners, the word-of-mouth that got me the “spot” wouldn’t have been there, and I’d still be broadcasting to a few hundred people each episode.
