Love to see Michael Lee Aday/Meatloaf in movies, he's a good actor-he was good in "Fight Club" and a creepy movie
called "Blacktop".

Jon Bon Jovi was charismatic in "Pay it Forward", and I thought Cher was absolutely wonderful in "Silkwood."

others?

Yeah, there's a bunch of them that had done it over the years. Like in the movie "Grease." So far though, this is something that other countries do more then in the U.S. Like for instance the movie "Black Rain", the Japanese motorcyclist who dies in the movie when crashing into a big rig is a famous rock guitarist. It's pretty much a guarantee that you will see famous singers and/or musicians play a serious role in big movies over in Japan. They also get famous athletes like boxers and such involved in movies as well. In doing this, they attract more then an audience made up of just people who like strictly a specific actor/actress or a movie. They will attract the fanbase of all people who are featured in the movie.

Like if SP was to play a role in an upcoming movie, I'm sure that his fanbase (besides people who just go out to watch movies for entertainment) would be very interested to go see the movie regardless of it's plot, plus perhaps purchase a copy of the movie as well. So it's a great marketing strategy for the movie industry as well.

Justin Timberlake ("Black Snake Moan", "Southland Tales"), and just about any pop-tart from Britney to J-Lo to Mandy Moore to Jessica Simpson to Janet Jackson. "Musicians" of this ilk are brand names -- not artists, IMO.

I once had a girlfriend that had a love for all things Jon Bon Jovi, and all things vampire.

I surprised her with a movie that had JBJ as a vampire hunter in it, and watched it with her.

DAMN that was a good night.

David Bowie was in many films. Besides "The Hunger" and "Labyrinth", he also had roles in these movies:

Absolute Beginners- 1986
Basquiat- 1996
Just A Gigolo- 1979
The Last Tempation Of Christ- 1988
Linguini Incident- 1991
The Man Who Fell To Earth- 1976
Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence- 1983
Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me- 1992
Artur et les Minimoys- 2006 Voice for English version
August- 2008
The Prestige- 2006
Mr. Rice's Secret- 2000
Everybody Loves Sunshine aka B.U.S.T.E.D (as known in the US.) 1999
Omikron: The Nomad Soul- 1999 voice of Boz...
Mio West 2 aka Gunslinger's Revenge -1998
Dream On 1 episode- 1991
Into The Night- 1985
Jazzin' For Bluejean- 1984
YellowBeard-1983 uncredited role
The Snowman - 1982 narrator for re-released version
Baal- 1982 for British TV
Theatre 625 1 episode- 1968
The Image -1967

Seems like Bowie was both actor/musician for most, if not, all of his career.

Besides "Freejack", Mick Jagger did do an earlier version of the Australian outlaw "Ned Kelly" , Jagger was in these movies/tv shows:

The Man From Elysian Fields 2001
Enigma 2001 (uncredited)
Bent 1997
Running Out of Luck 1987
Faerie Tale Theater-- The Emperor aka Shelly Duvall's Faerie Tale Theater.
Wings of Ash: Pilot for a Dramatization of the Life of Antonin Artaud 1978
Umano Non Umano 1972
