Best rendition of "Separate Ways"

Postby journeybabe » Mon Apr 07, 2008 8:16 am

I'm not a major connoisseur of renditions of the song, but this has to be one of the best I've heard.

Wow! That was awesome, considering it was only Arnel's 2nd show with Journey.

Thought the same thing! Another thing Ive noticed in all the new videos is the guys seem to be having fun with Arnel in the band, which is cool to see!

Not bad at all. He has a lot of energy.. Nice Perry spin. He has big shoes to fill and I really do wish them the best of luck. But my devotion is the Steve Perry Journey...

May not be the absolute best rendition, but it's interesting because it's brand new and some of the lyrics are a little different.

The audio isn't great.

If I was part of a well-known touring band, I'd LOVE to do that... toss a different new song, even if it's in its infant stages, out there once every night and see what the crowd thinks, and how it works with the live set.

No offense to Arnel, but just wondering why Neal didn't go for this guy. He did pretty good on this video.

Thanks for welcoming me into such a wonderful site ang group of people. I'm a huge Journey fan and my fav is Dean. I thought this new guy added a more edgy rockier sound to the old tunes; upbeat and energized!

Typical Froy answer. If it's not the original guy, he doesn't like it.
Arnel's version is great. Best choice they could've made.

Yep its not original don't like copycats
Arnel is fine won't lead them anywhere other than to make touring money
Then his voice cashes and off we go

Kevin still sounds great. What a missed opportunity passing over this guy year after year.

Anyways, most Journey fans would agree that it'll be interesting to see Journey live again because of what Arnel can bring to the table like doing justice to the classics and stuff , that's all.

Welcome Jbabe!

I don't think that's his best. AP does better at the Vegas show, this clips off a camera in the audience but he seems more with it here.

I'm a big fan of Kevin's but here he sounds about the same as if Deen had covered it. It didn't stand out that much too me. AP's voice seems stronger.

As to why they didn't go with KC, more to do with age and looks than his voice though.

Plus Kevin's seems lifeless there, no showmanship at all, in short boring. But his voice sounds really good for Journey though.
