"Big" bands you've never even tried out?

What are some well-known bands that you've never tried out or sampled, that many others may be fans of?

Basically, this is a "what am I missing?" type of thread, hopefully some horizons can be expanded here.

For me, I've never really tried out the following:

The Kinks
Jefferson Airplane/Jefferson Starship/Starship
Grateful Dead
The Band
R.E.M.
The Storm
Nirvana
Pearl Jam
Phish
Canned Heat

Some more to be added to this list later probably, for sure..

I regret not seeing the Rolling Stones , Led Zeppelin ,Chicago with Cetera or Queen. I have seen Elton, Starship ,Brian Adams,Foreigner, Billy Joel , Aerosmith, Survivor,Styx. & Heart . The bands had the guy who originally sang the hits. I saw Loui Gramm and Perry and Dennis DeYoung also solo & Cetera with symphonies or their own bands. I left out Boston with Brad. It has been a great 20 yrs !

Dokken's quality, I can't vouch for the other two though.

If you enjoy music that challenges your mind and requires repeated listens to understand... you'd dig Radiohead. If you just wanna listen to some fun pop rock tunes... you'd enjoy Radiohead's first two albums.

One of the better bands out there, hit them up and hopefully you won't be disappointed.

Almost any group that has come on the scene post 1999ish.

As mentioned by others

Tried and can't stand the the Dead
Tried and can't stand Phish (the new Dead)
Probably the biggest classic band I was never into would be The Doors. I like maybe two songs of theirs and never had the desire to dig deeper than the radio tunes.

Not huge on Pink Floyd, ELP, or Genesis either.

I dug deeper than the radio tunes and I'm pretty disappointed in the Doors' output..

...Doors fans talk up the band waaaaay too much, it seems, and pump up Jim Morrison as such a mystic savant and poetic mastermind... BUT...

...I personally feel Morrison's lyrics are average at best.

The best Door is Ray Manzarek.

To clarify:

The meaning of the thread was to find out what well-known bands you've heard extremely little, or NOTHING from....

....not what ones you've listened to and vehemently hate... LOL

It's one thing to say you don't like something bro, but all of these bands (except most punk) you mentioned are pretty damned good and very influential. Shocked that you'd brand so many legendary brands as shit... haha.

I like CCR too. Saw Jon Fogerty with John Mellencamp a few years ago..............JF sounds just as good now as he ever has, we were quite impressed.

I haven't listened to much Jefferson Airplane but I am a big "Starship" fan and Jefferson Starship is pretty good too...

"Jane", "Find Your Way Back", and "Layin It on the Line" are three great Jefferson Starship songs to get into.

With Starship, my favorites are "Sarah", "We Built This City", "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now", and "It's Not Enough". Mickey Thomas has a great voice and its too bad Grace Slick is nearing that 70 mark or those two vocalists would make a great tour.

Dude, if Dokken is quality, I'll take Robbie Gordon to win at Pheonix. Dokken sucks, big time.

However, I do love Rip Rokken a lot. Quality guy.
