OT - Drum Solo (Me) In Studio, April 2008 (Shameless plug)

So I did this over the weekend..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LtASblCIWb0

Some background:

I flew to California this weekend and got a chance to hang at a recording studio, for a project my brother is working on. It just so happens the project is being produced/engineered by the guy who did 'For the Love of Strange Medicine' (and a TON of other recordings (Jimbo Barton)). He was an extremely cool dude, btw and got amazing drum sounds.

Anyway, we are able to sync up the studio audio with the hand held vid cam and I thought it came out pretty good. There are some obvious (possibly not so obvious) nods to a couple of Steve Smith 'parts', but I did all of this on the spot with no pre-conceived solo in mind. (Yes, you can tell, lol)

anyway - any feedback appreciated.

cheers

- Brandon

Thanks for checking it out guys and gals, really appreciate the feedback.

I'll get on that 'gong' purchase, maybe some octobons, a $5,000 drum set and $30,000+ microphones ;-)

cheers

Thx Dude!

Not sure what kind of tricks the engineer had up his sleeve to be honest, but he is known for getting amazing drum sounds. No triggers on the snare and toms that i saw, but the bass drum may be gated.

More cowbell, dude...I need MORE cowbell.

Seriously, Brandon...from one drummer to another, great groove you've got goin' on there.

I dunno man. After watching that, hmmm, how can I break this gently to you. I thought it completely RULED! HA, has you worried there didn't I!

Seriously, that was some very impressive playing. Nice feel, great sound and powerful sounding fills. Keep it up. You really have a lot of talent there.

Don't worry bout the kit

Not bad, nothing too flashy, but it was tasteful. I don't see any connections with Smitty or Peart?

I don't see any connections either, as I'm not too keen on the visual-aural connection of drums...

But I can definitely hear a boatload of influence from those two.

GREAT solo bro! Enjoyed it.
