At home in NORTH CAROLINA they're around 2.75-3.25/pack. I move to Chicago and the cheapest I've found is a Walgreens in Des Plaines for $5.65 the most expensive was at the O'Hare Hilton gift shop for $9.71... needless to say, my habit is dying quickly. No pun intended.

WOW... here in my part of Ohio, packs are usually less than $5.00, not uncommon to be able to get one for less than $4.

I have a buddy that goes to Kentucky alot and I guess smokes are extremely cheap down there. He said, think three cartons for the price of one. Wow.

Now what does that have anything to do with the gas prices, John!? :?
I know plenty of people who HAVE to put that gas in their car to get to wok, gocery store , school, etc,,, but only a handfull that need the smoke to get through work!! 8)

Its like people were saying " dont complain about gas prices , do you know its like $22/gallon for cough medicine?".... yeah sure,,, but how many GALLONS of fucking cough medicine does one person use during their life time vs gasoline...

If the gas & cigarette prices were going hand in hand then I say they should up the prices on cigarettes to $20/pack and lower the freakin gas to $2/gallon :)

Kentucky runs about $3.70ish. Cartons at a gas station in my hometown are $22.50. Up here... hah. BTW, these prices are for Marlboro Lights.

...And Behshad, I'm all for $20/pack smokes if it means $2/gallon gas!!! It's up to $3.65 in places here (my Dad says it's still $3.17 at home).

I MAY actually be quitted by then too. I've never been addicted to cigarettes, a pack lasts me a week and a half.

I'll probably still enjoy my occaisional cigar though. Love those things.

Wow. A few years ago I was buying them over the internet from Va and having them shipped but a lot of the companies stopped sending them to NYC. I'm out of the city now and the average price is about $5 a pack where I am. 90 minutes north of the city...I'm sure people are going to be going for rides to the country and getting their smokes up here.

Please stop. You're an intelligent young woman with a big future. I ran into an ex girlfriend of mine recently - she was an absolute stunner twelve years ago, but she has been smoking three packs a day for fifteen years. She aged terribly, and I barely recognized her.

Three packs a day? Holy Christ! My Japanese friend who was visiting smoked 2 packs a day while he was here and I thought that was over the limit. And when I went back to work after he left, people in the office were asking me what happened while I was out because my voice was raspy. That's just second hand smoke over a one week period of time to boot.

I used to hang out with smokers even though I do not smoke. Because smokers have always been a very social type of crowd. Perhaps they get it from all the experience they get being friendly towards one another when bumming smokes off one another. The best conversations I've ever had was during flights across the Pacific with chicks in the tail section of the planes. I'd be sitting in non-smoking and venture in the back of the plane when I would spy me a hottie going back to the shitter to take a piss and fire up a few smokes. They don't have a smoking section on planes anymore, perhaps that's why there is so much violence on planes now. I do miss those good times though.

Yes sir. Fortunately I've never smoked 3 packs in one day and I've only been a habitual smoker for a little over three years now. I'm quite confident that if I can keep up this pace for a few more weeks, I'll be over it. :)

An average pack of cigs, from off brands to brand names, go for about 3 bucks a pack to a bit over 5 bucks a pack here in my area.

Now if you want to talk about high prices. A gallon of gas and a gallon of milk are running neck and neck, depending where you shop.

That's the main reason I'd rather enjoy a single cigar, rather than multiple cigarettes. Tastes better, smells better, and I'm not addicted so it's a little cheaper.

Yeah, tell me about it.....and the smoke will get into anything and everything too!...I recently sent a package to a friend...was boxing the stuff up to send on the other side of the room where a band I know practices...3 guys were in there puffing away. That package traveled for 3 days and when the person opened it they could smell the smoke!...it's insidious. I never smoked a lot and went outside when I did.. but I'm so glad I quit so I don't smell like that anymore...as well as for health.

Our office building has been non-smoking for many years now and when we used to go outside, you could instantly smell when somebody had been on holidays or something and was smoking an american siggy.

The first week was hell, but that's what they say......the first 3 days are the actual addiction and rest is habit. I just thought......I'll be damned if I'm going to pay $10 for a pack of cigs. My exhubby and I quit at the same time, he has since started again. :P For the first few years I bought myself something (trip, dvd player, etc) on the anniversary of when I quit each year........hey, whatever works right?!
