Remember those "Choose Your Own Adventure" books? It'd be something like this:
Suddenly the angry man whips out a pistol and points it at you. In the heat of the moment, you....
....roundhouse kick the gun out of his hand and attempt to karate chop him in the neck. (Turn to Page 53)
....shriek like a frightened schoolgirl and turn, running for the hills, running for your life. (Turn to page 66)
....begin reciting details of the Geneva Accord. (Turn to page 69)
Well, it was cooler than that.
Anyway.
What if a band decided to record a CHOOSE YOUR OWN ALBUM.... album?!
We know all about the great concept albums. The Wall, Tommy, Scenes from a Memory, and so on. It'd be something like that, a huge interconnected album telling a story. Except at the end of the song you can decide where the adventure goes next by skipping to an appropriate track indicated in a detailed read-along booklet included with the CD. There could be 40 songs or so, but using the read-along booklet it can guide you to many different combinations of orders, to create many different branches of the singular central concept of the album.
This will engage the listener and encourage them to pick up the actual CD of the album, so they can participate in the fun and thrill of making their own concept album along the way. Done right, this could be an absolute MASTERPIECE for the artist creative, bored, and insane enough to take on such a challenge. Imagine a listening experience like this, it would be fun and interesting in many ways!!
....Thoughts?
....holy hell, I feel like freakin' FyreDyck right now.
