We're paying around $3.40/gallon here in the Indianapolis metro area right now.
Does anyone else realize that the gas prices we are paying now are from when oil was going for $105-$110 per barrel? This means we are likely to go over $4.00/gallon and possibly up to $5 by the end of the summer.

Prices per state differ due to taxation for transportation issues. California has the highest in the Contiguous 48 due to it's taxes on highway and rail. Look at Louisiana, where you live. Shitty roads and no mass transit equal lower prices. Hawaii pay more simply because they live in the middle of a huge lake.

If you've ever been outside the USA, you'll know that gas has been outrageous in many places for years. The USA has been lucky. It looks like - for better or worse - we're getting caught up.

Fortunately it's a short drive into DuPage County for me and I can fill up cheaper... I think it was about $3.63 this weekend. Never stop at those damn Oasis places, they jack that shit up like it's nothing.

Yes that is because of the taxes the government in those countries puts on gas (and other forms of energy). US taxes are much lower by and by,
