OT: Wheat virus

Postby conversationpc » Wed Apr 23, 2008 2:18 am

I heard about this on Glenn Beck's show this morning and here is some interesting reading on this new wheat virus that spreads via the wind. If this reaches the U.S., it could destroy a majority of the crop as 75% of our wheat crop is susceptible to this virus.

Virulent fungal wheat virus spreads to Iran putting other major producers at risk.

Yikes! I do hope that someone comes up with a solution for this.

On another note, I heard on my local news here that Costco is limiting rice sales to customers. WTF? :?

Heard the 'fertilizer' market was in trouble too.
Not sure how, but the report said it would negatively affect just about everything.

Make up your own jokes about having plenty of 'fertilizer'.

The problem is if this thing hits here, we will also be hurting for wheat.

We've a bigger crisis over here at the moment, hope it hasn't hit you. Our bees are fucked good and truly, a virus spread by bees to other hives is killing them off. No pollination means NOT a lot of things will grow through cross pollination. Kinda funny really, we're all so worried about oil and the green house effect but in the end the various viruses are gonna fuck us up.

Have you seen the price of a bushel of wheat already?? Holy cow. The virus is a right wing conspiracy.

The bee thing and all other problems are all because of global warming! We're doomed. We're doomed I say.

Nothin' to do with global warming it's what they show us in that piss poor excuse of a theme park called Epcot, scientists fuckin' about with genetics, simple as that and no matter how much we object, they'll still go on fucking with crops and insectisides, we have no say. It'll end up with us having one option, eat KFC or Burger King or starve.

Rick, I've never been a big fan of soft ice cream or Blizzards. But if you wanna get hooked on something try the "Tin Roof Brownie" Blizzard. It has brownie and chocolate covered peanuts. Absolutely amazing. :D

I know, I used to always get their ribs, until I tried that Bacon Cheeseburger. I can make a great slab of babybacks at home. I WISH I could make a burger like that. Plus it's only $8.95 to boot. :D
