DAMN this shit sounds good!
What It Takes To Win sounds as if it might be a MONSTER.
Some dark, brooding menace to it, some aggression, a grow1y voc...
The new Stone and SW smoke

Yes it does....I'm not hearing a lot of the rock or progessive stuff Kevin Shirley alluded to and which I was hoping for, but I do like what I'm hearing so far. Maybe something here to appeal to you ROR fans

...and a touch of Infinity

.
I'm even looking forward to hearing the
dirty 11 for the first time in a long time, I expect them to sound better than the originals musically and Arnel sounds impressive. I haven't missed Perry in ten years and I don't think I'm about to start missing him now.

Only in Journey. I swear, I wish he'd come back and tour solo. He could play at my block party and I'd sit in the house and stick tennis balls in my ass before I went outside to watch him. Besides, he can't sing a full concert anymore anyway. Dude is done. Dunzo.

Outside of Journey I
aint going. A one-off on AI or something,
maybe. He tours with another group of musicians other than the guys that helped make him famous and he can kiss my big, hairy American ass cheeks. I
aint going.

Sounds great, but as others have mentioned, where are the rockers?
With each passing album, Neal promises to take off the gloves and then fails to deliver.
"Wildest Dream" seems to be as hard as it gets.
I hesistate to say this, but I think TBF may have rocked harder.
Does anything on here so far measure up to MOL, OM, or ICSIIYE?
Most of this album seems to be filled with midtempo anthems in the line of the second Storm album - which is perfectly fine, if not for the fact that Neal is always promising to restore the band to its Escape-roots.
Who needs Perry when you have Cain dictating the sound?

They would rock harder if Cain was gone. Bring back Rolie, dammit. The only Revelation here is that the new CD is a snoozefest.

You can tell all that from a few seconds of demos?

I actually thought the same thing. It seemed BORING.

I have not heard any of this new album, but I do have a thought on this. Neal's post-Perry style of playing is different. He's playing amazingly and filling each song with more notes, more solos and more fills than ever before...BUT...take a listen to that guitar riff in Seperate Ways. Fark, that's almost heavy enough to knock my block off. Playing with that syle and vigor has been missing.
Higher Place is maybe where it has come closest to reappearing. I'll look forward to hearing the new disc, but I don't expect the style of playing to be any different to Arrival or Generations.
Did I add that his playing is still amazing? The 2006 live shows I saw were just brilliant.

The music was a plain rip-off of Believe In Me and Never Too Late. How can that NOT be boring?? But...so far from what I've heard...that's the best track on the cd.

Jeremey ripped off another song and took credit for writing a new one? I think some of it sounds similar to BIN, but I don't think its a total rip-off and Neal sounds amazing on everything I've heard so far.

I think Jeremey's input was mostly lyrical.
With that said, if ripping your own sound off is a sin, then MANY bands are guilty. It's not like it's a rare occurence.

I NEVER said Jeremey ripped those songs off, did I? I SAID that the MUSIC was a rip off of 2 other songs. Jeremey wrote some of the lyrics (as far as I know), but the music is a true cross between two other songs.
Neal sounds almost as bored with playing as I am with listening.

Liam, you can't review an album that hasn't even been released yet=unless you have an advanced copy?
the songs we've heard so far are EXACTLY Journey sounding, if you think they are boring then I guess you
aren't a Journey fan anymore. No matter what Jeremey's input was I'm sure he's proud of the song, you said it
was a rip off.

Never Too Late and Believe In Me are both shit songs. I don't hear either one of those songs in NWA. I was in Vegas after the show and not one person there said they heard any such similarities. The "bitch hunt" here is laughable. It sounds like Be Good To Yourself, Believe In Me and Never Too Late? Dear Lord. Make up your fucking minds already.

Like I've said before...if Neal/Jon can pick a lead singer off of youtube off of a couple of clips...I think I can judge this album by a few clips.
And I applaud Jeremey for what he did with the band.

Somebody got hired to play NFL football off of youtube this week, what's wrong with auditioning any way you can?

Incorrect. Both are great songs.
