Though the Arnel remark was only tongue in cheek. It really does annoy me this constant myth that Journey singers get replaced straight away.

No Journey singer who has released an album with the band has lasted less than 5 years or there abouts.

Sure, you can throw in the "who has released an album with the band" criteria to buttress your argument. It doesn't change the fact that in the past 12 months, the band Journey has had three lead singers!

And as much as I enjoyed JSS, he will be forgotten in Journeys larger history. Augeri will have a mark, aswill Pineda - we just dont know how big it will be yet (not very I suspect, but nevertheless enjoyable)

I agree, 100%

youkeepmewaiting wrote: Augeri will have a mark

Sure he will. He'll be forever "marked" as the guy who couldn't sing the back catalogue and lipped his way through what were supposed to be "live" performances! Outside of my buddy JoePa and the red leather, crotch sniffing yahoos on Jackass Talk, most casual Journey fans have no clue who Steve Augeri is, and that will NEVER change!

We'll agree to disagree on this one, also. I actually like Arnel and think he has a SUPERB voice. I also believe that his voice is FAR more suited to singing Journey's back catalgue than Augeri or Jeff's voices were. That said, the bottom line is that the name "Journey" and the voice of Steve Perry will FOREVER be connected. Most casual fans (i.e. not the wackos who visit sites like this) don't care about who Journey's "lead singer of the week" is. I think that hiring Arnel was to specifically appeal to that casual Journey fan (which is any band's core). Neal wants the "average" fan at a concert to believe it's still Perry up there, and Arnel has the vocals to hoodwink most fans at a concert!

Three? When was JSS let go? March or April of last year? If that's the case, the only lead singer Journey has had in the past year is Arnel.
