Let's hope this works out. I guess if they throw enough dough at him, he'll be the guy.
In an effort to replace Bryant Gumbel as the play-by-play announcer for its package of late-season games, NFL Network is attempting the broadcasting equivalent of the Hail Mary pass.
A media source tells us that NFLN is actively recruiting Al Michaels for the job.
Michaels is the diamond-covered platinum standard, in our assessment, when it comes to sports broadcasting, and his involvement in NFLN’s broadcasts would instantly give the productions multiple added layers and levels of credibility.
Neil Best of Newsday recently reported that Michaels is on the league-owned network’s wish list. As we understand it, NFLN must have found a monkey paw or a stray eyelash or a genie-infested lamp, because the wish is in the process of becoming reality.
Whether Michaels takes the job remains to be seen. He’d be doubling his NFL workload in the last two months of the season, adding a Thursday night game to his usual Sunday night contest on NBC, where he partners with John Madden.

Even if Michaels doesn't take the job...just get some dude off the streets who knows Football to replace Gumbel. He sucks.
Maybe even find someone off youtube.

Liam, you got HBO? If not, you better get it:
Hard Knocks, the weekly documentary show that follows an NFL team through training camp, will focus this year on the Dallas Cowboys, CBS 11 in Dallas is reporting.
The show will apparently continue to be produced by NFL Films and shown on HBO.
Hard Knocks began in 2001, focusing on the Baltimore Ravens’ training camp and then focused on the Cowboys the following year. In 2007 it followed the Kansas City Chiefs’ camp.
Storylines the show is likely to focus on for this year’s version of the show include the hands-on approach of owner Jerry Jones, how rookie running back Felix Jones adjusts to his first camp, restricted free agent running back Marion Barber’s contract negotiations and the relationship between wide receiver Terrell Owens and quarterback Tony Romo.
The Cowboys’ training camp will open in late July in Oxnard, California.

Oh damn. Thanks for the heads-up, dude. I saw the first 'Boys season of that show. Pretty good...even though I HATE "reality" shows.

Gumbel sucks at announcing anything even apart from football.

chris collinsworth was even worst than Gumbel..... he is sooo obssesive with his over the top statements for 15 -45minutes of the same subject... the example was the cowboys/packers game last year... could not get enough of romo... and riled on farve... even when romo almost cost the cowboys the game last year...he do no wrong.. collinsworth is kiss ass to the full extent.

I only saw Gumbel on one game last season, and that was plenty. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought he was horrific.
