And Def Leppard wins by a fucking landslide. The BA album was boring as hell. I would rather LISTEN to paint dry. Lep, on the other hand, held my attention through the whole album. A couple of lulls here and there, but, I think it's the strongest album since Euphoria. (Yes I'm one of those that thought X and Yeah sucked as a whole)

Too different musically to truly compare. If you want a Rock record, then yeah...DL is more suited to what you want...the new BA doesn't "rock" in that respect.

In terms of sheer songwriting & performance regardless of style, I'd say they're pretty equal. As tame as it is, the new BA is a very good album.

It may be decent...but BA has gone downhill since Wakin' Up The Neighbors. I can't call 11 "striking" or even "Good". Oxygen seems to be the only GREAT track on the album to me. IMO.

Waking up the Neighbors actually sounded like Def Leppard in parts. I hated that. I liked the album, but hated how Mutt Lang made him sound like DL. It's the BA album I listen to the least.
18 till I Die was a great album. Not sure why that doesn't get it's props.

The background vocals on most Mutt Lange produced albums sound the same. I hate that. It only fits in DL and that's where it should stay.

Honestly....I just could NOT get into 18 Till I Die. I thought it was VERY sub-par. I thought On a Day Like Today was a better effort. I'm probably in the minority here.

Is on a day... the new one? I haven't heard that. I thought 18 till I Die and his Unplugged album were great. I still listen to both. Black Pearl is a helluva good song.

Nope. On a Day came out in I THINK '01 or '02. Someone correct me if i'm wrong on the year(s).

The Unplugged album was FANTASTIC. I just didn't count that 'cause it's not a studio release. Kind of a Live GH to me...but still was perfection, in my eyes.

EDIT: 11 is the new album, BTW.

Is Mutt singing background vocals on those other albums aside from DL? Could that be why they might sound the same? (I'm just wondering since I remember in an interview it being mentioned that he sang backing on Hysteria)

I think that's gotta be it. I thought that Waking up the Neighbors sounded JUST LIKE Hysteria's backups. I'd assumed that Elliot did those vocals, but if they're the same there as on Adam's album, then it must be Mutt. It was cool once, but I don't dig hearing those on others' albums. Kind of like Jeff Lynne's production. I like it for ELO, Harrison, and the Wilburys, but to use the exact same sounds on McCartney's Flaming Pie album and The Beatles reunion singles, not a great idea there... Sounded like Electric Light Beatles + Lennon's answering machine.

Not necessarily. Joe & Bryan have similar, somewhat "scratchy" voices. When you record them the same way & stack them the same way & use the same effects & production techniques on 2 similar voices, you're going to get a lot of similarity...
