ONE album.

You're dying/going to a deserted island/leaving the world in a rocket ship.

You can only take one album (greatest hits don't count, neither do multi-artist compilations) with you to the afterlife/island/outer space.

What do you take?

Mine:

Journey-Escape (Though I'd probably try jamming Frontiers in my rectum as it's also a must have.  )

I'm feeling like this one wouldn't make the grade with your criteria, but if I can't take Captured....

...then Frontiers with the extra tracks.

Yikes! No thanks...

Leftoverture...Vocals to rival Perry's (Steve Walsh in his prime), excellent harmony & background vocals that they could actually recreate live without backing tapes, excellent instrumentation by each band member, non-standard arrangements, good songwriting that didn't rely on the standard (love, sex, partying, etc.), and one timeless classic (Carry on Wayward Son).

What's kinda funny about that album is that "Carry on Wayward Son" almost didn't make the cut. It was a last minute thing that Kerry brought in and no one really thought it was all that special.

Must because they didn't write most of the music for it! LOL

Same story for alot of other massive hits, it seems!

I almost always listen to The Pinnacle and CoWS back-to-back since I heard CoWS was written as a sequel... both songs are too epic for words.

If you really listen to the song, very little of it is similar to Journey's "I'm Gonna Leave You" and it's not even the main riff in the song. The similar portion probably makes up about 5% or less of the tune.

Ah, "The Pinnacle"..."I've stood where no man goes...and conquered demon foes.
With glory and passion no longer in fashion, the hero breaks his blade.

Classic lyrics by Kerry Livgren.

Gawd, no way to chose just one! For today it would have to be TMG http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0swL7jihXd4 Great cd, start to finish.

And I guess I would try hiding Lost In The Translation, a la SJ.

TMG, LITT, Escape are about the only non greatest hits cds I play right from beginning to end with no skipping. Actually I lie LOL, I do skip over Open Arms and Who's Crying sometimes.
