Revelation - Europe to get Bonus Track rather than DVD

Postby RocknRoll » Fri May 09, 2008 11:34 pm

Looks like they're trying to equal things out with Europe since it appears WalMart US has an exclusive on the DVD.

Cool, another Journey 'rarity' to add to the collection.

Is that bonus track a rock tune or a ballad? Anyone know?

I detest this notion.

Same tracklisting WORLDWIDE, don't cave to the exclusive track demands.

I hope WalMart can quash this somehow.

Wal-Mart is America only...the band are free to do whatever outside of the US...US gets the DVD, EU gets the extra song...many will find a way to get both, which is good for the band...

Reported here as well, about half-way down the page...

Also has a link to a 7:30 sampler mp3 - not sure if this is the same one seen before:

It's bullshit.
This WAS going to be the first time the US got exclusive ANYthing.
TBF, Arrival, and Generations ALL had exlusive Japan and/or Europe only tracks and the screwing of the US record buyer now continues if this is the case.

It does sound like a awesome epic song, from the clips I've heard.

Actually it was posted on TJF first, but by a fan.

I also find it frustrating that advance news about radio releases, TV appearances, etc aren't posted on their forum's news section. I often wonder if this is a strategy by Journey management, since it seems if something is posted that doesn't pan out as planned they are accused of either lying or trying to deceive the fans. Also, it gives those who are looking for an opportunity to put a negative spin on anything official that chance. So maybe better to post nothing. I don't like it, but there must be some rational by Journey management regarding the way there are handling things.

EDIT: Sometimes my spelling and grammar suck

JoePa and I talked about that not more than a week ago. I believe my exact quote was "This would be a great song for a Rocky film." The song sounds like a Journey/Survivor hybrid. More so on the Survivor side.

OK - EXCLUSIVE NEWS -

Bonus Track confirmed, but what style???

The label tells me: "Rock Mid tempo, somehow similar to "Remember Me"..."

Sounds good to me!

Cool..."Remember Me" is a song they needed to revisit, IMO...it would have been cool to have that one on the new album...great tune.

Exactly the US has got the better deal here, you'll be able to pick up the extra track we're getting easily over the internet, whilst what will probably happen is that UK fans will have to wait for some individual DVD release of the Vegas show to get our hands on it, unless we buy a Region 1 DVD player and import it.

I'd much prefer the effort was made to release Revelation over here complete with the DVD rather than just getting an extra track.

One more reason why I don't feel bad that I stopped buying CD's altogether. (aside from the fact that I hardly spin actual discs anymore) No matter where or how you buy it, you're getting short-changed in some way. That's not counting an inevitable "special edition" re-release 6-8 months down the line.

If you still wonder why people download, here is your answer.

Good news...there is the 11th new song, since FITH is hardly 'new'.

Would have been funny as hell if they'd have given FITH as the Euro bonus track.  Just kidding. :D

Bonus tracks to Europe and Japan are standard practice. Andrew did a write up about that awhile back on the front page. There is a logical reason for it.

I know about the writeup, doesn't mean it is fair.

Sick of this horseshit.

Just because it's "standard practice" doesn't make it any less asinine. Maybe it's time for some new "standards," although it's a bit too late to save a format on its last, dying legs.
