Listening to Captured

Postby Rick » Sun May 18, 2008 9:50 am

Haven't done this in a good while, but this record is just phenomenal.
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

captured is in my top five rock records of all time and escape is too.to me captured is one of the best live albums ever.i remember back in '91 having a party and some guy and me got into a fight because i was playing what he called that 'old stale shit' instead of some fresh pearl jam.gosh how i fucking hated alternative back then.i was going to classic rock shows in the early 90's while people my age around 17 or 18 were going to shit like nirvana and soundgarden but where are all these alterna bands today? either dead or gone. where is journey? fixing to put out a new album plus tour.fuck those fuckers who thought alternative would forever rule.

A live masterpiece, it's really up there amongst Frampton Comes Alive, Get Yer Ya Yas out, classics like that.

I love the chugging, crunching intro to WWY?

Lights is brilliant in its simplicity, Too Late is amazing, and the warhorse stretch run of LTS, WITS and AWYWI is the perfect adrenalized frenetic ending to the live part, and The Party's Over is the best song perry's ever penned.

A great, great time capsule and ushering out of the hammond-driven Rolie/Scon era.

I liked Captured better than the greatest hits live. Loved The Party's Over/Hopelessly In Love from that!

Also, my nick pays tribute to another song I liked on Captured...Walks Like A Lady

Love everything about it. Smitty's drum solo kicked major ass. Entire concert was ultra high energy. Covered my three favorite albums. Liked many of the live versions of my fav studio recordings. Album was essentially my first Journey concert (1980) although not recorded in Salina Kansas.

It's going in my car in the morning.

Except that Frampton Comes Alive is not live - but still a great record.

I love this cd, I remember getting the album as a kid then tapeing it so I could listen to it on my Sony Walkman as i was riding to my high school basketball games . Im gonna go get the cd and put it in my car right now ! WWY is one of the best songs and is awesome live. Not to sir up any shit, JSS nailed that song three time in South Florida, the last three shows here. Hope they bring it back this tour. Would love to see" Too Late", Party's Over and La Do Da or or Cain and Arnel doing, Just the Same way, Feeling that way and anytime.

I love Rolie's growly "(ggggggrrrr)Aaaaaaaahhhhhtt's the same way you love me..." at the one part right after the little pause.

That's some good stuff right there! :) Love the LIVE "Party's Over" tacked on the end of the cd! Definitely one of my favorite intros.....the drums/bass, then Steve's vocals going right into Neal's killer guitar......great stuff!
