Let's all suppose that this is true.

IMO, his best work is "If Only For The Moment, Girl", and "Can't Let You Go"....the 2nd one being the one I'm listening to, as I post.

CLEARLY, this type of music, again IMO, is definitely his Genre.

It's a blessing to receive ANY Perry music these days so I'll take it any way I can.

I wouldn't care if he put a couple covers on a CD of mostly new material. I think he said once that he wasn't into that, unless he felt he could bring something to it that was as good or better than the original (or something like that).

Actually I can agree with that. a couple motown-type numbers sprinkled over an album would be better than a whole album. JSS does a pretty mean motown also. On the Talisman dvd, you can hear Jeff singing a little of the Jackson Five's "I'll Be There"..........excellent!

I like Motown. I wouldn't mind covers, either...I know he would put his own spin on them and they'd sound like new songs (listen to Cupid on the FTLOSM tour - it sounds so beautiful). But, for some reason I keep remembering one of the last interviews SP did with Uncle Joe Benson where he alludes to something like, "turn it up loud"?

For once, JoePa said something I agree with. 1 or 2 songs like I Believe and any other songs off of ST would be most excellent.

Then a few like If For the Moment, Girl and Let Go (love those 2 songs!). So what if they sound '80s. IMO, if SP stick with this formula, he will achieve mainstream appeal again (not just us hardcores). I think that's where FTLOSM faltered. Too many slow, drawn out songs.

Nora, did you mean Can't Let You Go (the Jeff Gulob song) or Let Go, Steve's own unreleased song?

Oh, some songs like Don't Fight It! That'll get the general music to take notice. It'll get radio play, for sure.

It sounded to me more like that was a metaphor referring to making time count in the 'later' years, becasue thst commeing about the "Na na's". Like now's the time to "turn that mother UP and make it count". I don't think that was indicitive of style on anything he might be working on.

Yeah, I guess you are right!! Neal probably would say that too. Oh well, I wish Perry would come out with a rockin' CD but I don't think I will ever see it.

That song was written by Perry in 1996. I'm sure he was more spry and willing to rock then, than he is these days.

I know that recording was done recently BUT.. I highly doubt he'd pen many, if any, rock tunes for a 2008+ solo album.
