Hey...

Let's all suppose that this is true.

IMO, his best work is "If Only For The Moment, Girl", and "Can't Let You Go"....the 2nd one being the one I'm listening to, as I post. 8)

CLEARLY, this type of music, again IMO, is definitely his Genre.

Here's hopin' a new CD of this....Cheers! \~/

I'm with Tammy, anything at all will be fine. This is the ONLY time anyone will ever hear or see me speak this way of a man, but (in my gayest voice) he's very special.

If Perry released a lo-fi cover album of punk rock classics, I'd still buy it.

It's a blessing to receive ANY Perry music these days so I'll take it any way I can.

It would be good, as long as it's not mowtown or some other sundry oldies covers.

I wouldn't care if he put a couple covers on a CD of mostly new material. I think he said once that he wasn't into that, unless he felt he could bring something to it that was as good or better than the original (or something like that).
Whatever it is....bring it on!

I hear ya Moonie! I Believe is one of my favorites off of Street Talk. Can anybody actually hold their shoulders still while listening to that one?

Mowtown's a bad genre, I DON'T care for it and perry's capable of more.
A song or 2 in that vein, LIKE an I Beleive, could be palatable, but no more.

Actually I can agree with that. a couple motown-type numbers sprinkled over an album would be better than a whole album. JSS does a pretty mean motown also. On the Talisman dvd, you can hear Jeff singing a little of the Jackson Five's "I'll Be There"..........excellent!

I like Motown. I wouldn't mind covers, either...I know he would put his own spin on them and they'd sound like new songs (listen to Cupid on the FTLOSM tour - it sounds so beautiful). But, for some reason I keep remembering one of the last interviews SP did with Uncle Joe Benson where he alludes to something like, "turn it up loud"?

Thanks for the explanation Sir, no shame in not liking a certain style of music.

Deb I become all bounce like when I Believe comes up on my cd spinner.
Kinda like your lil motie guy in your sig. :D

Hehe, Moonie, that person next to you looks like John Lennon (to me). Sorry, no offense to that person.
For once, JoePa said something I agree with. 1 or 2 songs like I Believe and any other songs off of ST would be most excellent.

Then a few like If For the Moment, Girl and Let Go (love those 2 songs!). So what if they sound '80s. IMO, if SP stick with this formula, he will achieve mainstream appeal again (not just us hardcores). I think that's where FTLOSM faltered. Too many slow, drawn out songs.

Nora, did you mean Can't Let You Go (the Jeff Gulob song) or Let Go, Steve's own unreleased song?

Oh, some songs like Don't Fight It! That'll get the general music to take notice. It'll get radio play, for sure.

It sounded to me more like that was a metaphor referring to making time count in the 'later' years, becasue thst commeing about the "Na na's". Like now's the time to "turn that mother UP and make it count". I don't think that was indicitive of style on anything he might be working on.

I think you are more apt to get an easy listening, Peter Cetera type CD from Perry than anything else. Steve Perry has resided in the ex-rocker pasture with the the likes of the 62 year-old Rod Stewart for years. I don't think Perry has it in him to rock. Perry probably fits in with the Disney soundtrack crowd. I can picture him doing duets for animated love stories with Peabo Bryson. His rock days have long passed him by. Face it, a rock CD would be risky, but a song from a hit cartoon about penguins or a princess would pay a few bills.

Yeah, I guess you are right!! Neal probably would say that too. Oh well, I wish Perry would come out with a rockin' CD but I don't think I will ever see it.

That song was written by Perry in 1996. I'm sure he was more spry and willing to rock then, than he is these days.

I know that recording was done recently BUT.. I highly doubt he'd pen many, if any, rock tunes for a 2008+ solo album.
