Yes....and no.

It would be surprising if anything nowadays went Platinum, but it IS Journey and if just ONE song takes off, it could be the one that takes the CD with it!

The only thing I have to "get over" is the re-recording of the old classics. Will never understand it (they played DSB - a portion of it - at the NASCAR All-Star race last night).

Which version, the original or the new one w/Arnel?

I'm not going to be totally shocked. I'm also not going to say that I expect it to go Platinum, but I do think that this album has the potential to do very well. Wal-Mart is going to do wonders for this record. Couple it with some good performances on TV, and I think Revelation will sell. And from all I hear the tour is already selling very well, so that can only help the sales of the album.

I like the strategy in giving out Generations at concerts - you get the album in the hands of people who see you live. But it just did not bode well for the long-term success of that album. People walk in the gate, get the album and then hear songs from it that night for the very first time. There is no chance for people to know the songs before seeing the show. Releasing Revelation right before the European Tour starts and a month before the US Tour will change that.

Neither - all I heard was Neal's solo! They didn't play the lyrics!

Every genre and every income level are customers of Harley-Davidson. They need to
get their cd's in the showrooms and place ads in the magazine publications. How else
will people know its even out? They need more advertising and more product placement.

SELLS a million? I'd be shocked.

SHIPS a million (like TBF)? I wouldn't doubt it.

Will neither sell a million nor ship a million, but it will do much better than any other post-Perry output from the band!

A million packages? Or a million CDs (500,000 packages)?

You never know, Jeremey, worldwide sales could possibly put it over a million copies.....

The fact that it is a Walmart exclusive and how Walmart will probably promote the hell
out of it makes it very possible that this album breaks a million in sales here in the states.

My publishing info shows that Wal Mart will basically be a one time buy of less than a million copies, and I doubt that the Frontiers distribution deal will make up the difference to a million copies.

Won't sell or ship more than 500,000 units in the US.

Well, what if it's a SELL OUT? Will they order more units? OR are you talking about the package deal with the bonus CD/DVD? Will future (re-stock) orders just include the CD of new material?

The word will get out. Hell, I even dreamed I was up front waiting for a Journey concert last night - to see if I liked Arnel, and I kept shoving people out of the front row. Seriously! Where the hell did that come from?

Hold the horn, folks.
Let's move 250K units and get to GOLD (where we haven't been since TBF) first, can we?

See what happens from there.

That's what I'm realistically hoping for.

I would not be surprised to see this CD sell a million units.

I thought this was supposed to be a big finacial boost for the band.
Didi they get a big bonus just to do the album or are they banking
off of sales? If Walmart only prints, say, 500K copies, I can't imagine the band
getting more than $3-5 (if that) per album in royalties...
Doesn't seem to be as lucrative as I thought.

Of course, I have NO IDEA how all this stuff works.
That's why I am asking

It is. However, there are 2 CDs in each package so they only need to sell 250,000.

Really???
That doesn't make sense.
Shouldn't it be how many of the ENTIRE package that counts?

No, no way, not w/ doubles, they generally COST more than a single disc.

In this case the band, management, label kept the package VERY affordable for a triple disc (w/ DVD) package, so that is sure to help.

At the incredible price of $11.88 USD, I'd bet REVELATION will prove to be an excellent impulse buy (for even the most casual Journey fan), if the cds are strategically placed in high volume areas around the store.

I had the impulse yesterday to buy it through the Journey official store, which ships May 30th.

http://journey.shop.musictoday.com/Dept ... 3311_13735

for an extra $9 they throw a Revelation album cover t-shirt in with the package too.
