But ~ MY GOD
Just fast-forward to 3:00 and beyond....the interval David Cook hits on the word "night".....
He put a ROCK ATTITUDE on it ~ LOVE it

I said this in another thread too - even though I love that he's a rocker this song was probably my favorite performance of his, just loved his voice on this. I even bought this from I-Tunes (along with a couple others and pretty much all of Michael Johns' studio performances). Gawd I'm turning into an American Idol freak!

I love this song originally and I loved the way he did it as well. Beautiful song!

Niiiiiice, very well done!
I kind of imagined a fairy tale while he was singing it rather than the play it was written for-which I didn't love when I saw it.

That guy might really be a singer...not just a rocker.

Love all of "Phantom of the Opera" - saw the play in '90 with the original phantom, Michael Crawford and loved it! Had to buy the music, the books on how the stage was crafted, etc.
But, yeah, David Cook rocks...I especially like his Billie Jean:

Hideous.
The show is usually great on stage though. The best 'phantom' by far was the dude in the original Bochum cast. He played it with a more gritty rocky edge and had a great voice and look. Wish I could remember his name.

I actually love this song and couldn't imagine a "rocker" singing it, but, WOW, what a great job! I have to admit that
I haven't followed Idol much, so I hadn't really heard him sing. I'm impressed.

Can anyone tell me whether Gerard Butler is singing his parts in "The Phantom of the Opera" movie or does someone else sing the songs for him?

Apparently everyone sang their own parts with the exception of Minnie Driver though she does sing the closing-credit number, "Learn to Be Lonely".
