John Parr to support Journey in UK

Postby Andrew » Sat May 24, 2008 7:22 pm

Cool fit....just got this press release in.

Grammy nominated rock musician John Parr (Pic attached) has been confirmed as Special Guest for Journey on their UK tour dates in June.
John had one of the biggest hits of the 80's with his iconic track 'St Elmo's Fire (Man In Motion)'.
He went on to have other hits including 'Naughty, Naughty', 'Restless Heart', 'Rock & Roll Mercenaries'
In the mid 80's (during Parr's massive World-wide success), The Pepsi Company and Jack Calmes Satellite TV Corporation wanted to try something new - a gig from London beamed live across America, Japan & Australia on the college Satellite Network. Parr was the featured act, having done two similar shows (one from the Olympic Stadium in Los Angeles where the flame was lit for a special performance of "St. Elmo's Fire", and was beamed live for Japan, and the New Year Christmas Show from London). The show was a great success, reaching almost 50-million people and making broadcast history for the network.
John has also performed the music to 9 Major Motion Pictures titles including '3 Men & A Baby', 'The Running Man', 'Near Dark' and of course 'St Elmo's Fire'.

John Parr will be Special Guest for Journey on the following dates (See Poster Attached)

17th June 2008 - London Hammersmith Apollo
19th June 2008 - Manchester Apollo
20th June 2008 - Glasgow SECC
22nd June 2008 - Wolverhampton Civic Hall
23rd June 2008 - Cardiff International Arena
25th June 2008 - Dublin National Stadium
27th June 2008 - Nottingham Arena
28th June 2008 - Newcastle Arena

Andrew,

Is he going to have a band with him or is it an acoustic set?

He's been touring with a full band, so that I expect.

I paid 75£ bucks to see Journey in London it's pretty expensive for me because I have to travel quite a distance. But yeah this is getting better and better the more the merrier. Just a thing a lot of people in youtube forum are talking about this so called journey appearance on june 1 well apparently Noel gave a clue that the program name starts with letter "W" I don't live in U.S so no idea at all. Anybody from here any wild guess...?
Con el nuevo Journey sigue siendo el mejor banda del rock...y despues de tantos anos la musica sigue vive...

Hope he still does a lot of his back catalogue, such as 'Love Grammer' and stuff like that. What a song that was.

Can one of you fine smelling Europeans please pass along any information on the size of the venues Journey is playing this year? I'm guessing 3-5 thousand. Ta ta.

Journey without Steve Perry in 2008 can sell out 3-5 thousand seat venues in Britain.

So surely they could of made it big over here in the 80s if Perry bloody let them tour!

How popular is John Parr? Seems to me that there is a bit of excitement over this package. I think those that attend the shows will be pleasantly surprised.

Average person on the street wouldnt know who he was. I'm not a fan personally, I'm suprised at the excitement - hopefully I will be suprisingly excited when I see him.

Thank Goodness for the DVD's.
They were here with Perry in '79 but I was still at school and hadn't even heard of them, and they played Sheffield which is only a 40 minute drive from me.
Knowing that hurts SO much. They came so close! If only I'd known back then.
I know I'm not alone in that emotion.
Even if a lot of Brits do still think "More Than A Feeling" was Journey's greatest hit.

I think a lot of people would remember John Parr's hits if prompted, but without a hint, I don't think many will remember him - but as SJ has pointed out, how dare I speak for everybody.

I would guess that there are more people in the UK who will remember John Parr than will remember Journey.
