When this hit radio, I thought it was new Journey. Got the cd. Pleasantly surprised to find Rolie, Smitty and RV about the business of putting out good music.

I slightly preferred Bad English. But I do love The Storm too. If we couldn't have actual Journey, then Bad English and The Storm were the next best thing.

But in the case of The Storm you had to miss Neal not being involved, as great as Josh Ramos is.

I preferred BE to The Storm, too. Did see them when they opened for BA in '92. Great show - Rollie was all over the Journey stuff. At that point, it seemed like the closest thing I was going to get to a Journey show.

Bah! where is the option "its not Journey without Perry" Since when was Journey recognized for the guitarist? only a select few would say, only a select few...

Lay Down is the single best track of both albums combined. Tall Stories, too.

The Storm all the way for me. Both albums didn't really sound much like Journey though.

The Storm any day over Bad English. BE had John Waite for a start off, who is so ridiculously overrated. Nah The Storm blow BE away for me with consumate ease.

The Storm is like vanilla ice cream. Pleasant and doesn't get you too excited. Bad English kicked ass. Too bad Waite had lead singers disease.

There is actually a large contigent of Journey fans that recognize that Neal Schon is, has been, and always will be Journey. However, they aren't as vocal as their "loonier" counterparts, as they have always felt like a part of the band.

I mean, after all... who is the only man to be onstage for every Journey concert for 35 years?

Great points. If it weren't for Neal, this band would have been done in 86, 96 and 06.

Also, while Journey have had long periods of inactivity.... Schon, never. He's always had some kind of solo album or side project to bridge the gap between Journey albums, and indeed, several of these albums (Hardline, Beyond the Thunder) I enjoy more than alot of Journey albums!

I didn't care for Bad English. The Storm had 1 good album. The follow up, not so much.

I didn't mention Perry as poll question because for better or worse the reality is that Journey DID exist before Perry and has existed since. Admittedly, his contributions took them to their highest peak which is why we're all here. Plus it'd skew the whole poll.

The Storm however was able to emulate the Journey sound without both Neal and Perry.

I was so desperate for ANYTHING Journey, that I bought the Storm CDs. (Not such a fan of Bad English, but I bought them, too!)

I thought they were great!

A lot more people think of Neal Schon first than I think you realize when their thinking about Journey.

Plus Kevin Chalfant sounds so similar to Steve Perry. Granted, Josh Ramos has his similarities to Neal Schon.

Yeah, I saw them open one show for BA and another for Peter Frampton.

I like both Perry and Chalfant even better than Waite, but I don't think that Waite is overrated, he's pretty damn good IMO.

I prefer The Storm's first album over their second one too, but I think were in the minority on that?

I do still like their second one however.

The Storm was actually pretty good. However I've always found most songs of them way way too sweet and cheesy. (yuk!)

Bad English kicked ass, great leadsinger, great dynamic guitar playing, great energizing songs. Should never have stopped IMO.
They even had hits in Europe and in my country as well, still having one in our top 1000 of all time... :O

Ramos was an entirely capable guitarist, but I couldn't get into most of the Storm stuff without Neal's writing. You can replace Neal's chops, but not his creative input.

I was never a fan of Rolies voice that much. Until I started listening to The Storm then I feel in love with it.

The Storm songs are easier to listen to, whereas Bad English had better song writing.
