Just read this over at aintitcoolnews.com. Mori, one of their better critics, offered up his assesment of the new HULK film, which alot of people are sort of up in the air on...but check THIS out:

I went to the Universal lot last Wednesday to look at a chunk of footage. Those three clips that Harry introduced were from the footage I saw, but I saw a big chunk of the movie beyond that. Enough that I can say with all confidence that this looks like another example of Marvel done right. I think it will belong next to IRON MAN on a DVD shelf as the fun and crazy introduction of the character who shows up in THE AVENGERS. Maybe that’s the next place we’ll see him. Maybe he’ll show up in someone else’s film like IRON MAN 2. Who knows? I’m guessing audiences will welcome this HULK with open arms...

... if they go. And that’s the question, isn’t it?

I will. I’m excited. And speaking as a parent for a moment, I actually want to thank Universal for putting out the clip of the Abomination versus Hulk online. It’s an excellent test of a young comic book fan’s threshold. Show them that clip. If that looks like fun to them, I think you’re okay. If that clip is too scary, then let the little one sit this film out. I think that clip is pretty crazy and wild, something we’ve never really seen in a superhero fight before. Two giant crazy supermonsters using every inch of a city to beat the holy hell out of one another. For a long, long, long time. I think this is going to make the fight in THEY LIVE look like a bitchslap. Every bit of it I saw made me laugh in the right way. Like, “Oh, my god, they’re crazy. There are two monsters destroying Toronto. And it’s AWESOME.” You have to decide if your younger viewer’s going to be able to enjoy that, or if it’ll turn into a bad experience before the movie’s over. It’s action movie overload, like a cake on a pie with ice cream and a brownie.

I...am...SO...THERE!!!!! Apparently this film is ignoring the much-maligned Ang Lee film, and taking it in a new direction (ala BATMAN BEGINS) which I think is a wise move!

I personally can't wait. I grew up a gigantic Hulk fan, so this is gonna be GREAT!!!!

You know it! The only worries I had at all was the much more unrealistic CGI look of The Hulk, as one of the major complaints about the last film was that the Hulk effects were terrible. I completely disagreed, and thought they were outstanding! This Hulk is much brighter and a little less believable from the footage I've seen, but that rarely ruins a movie for me... and who knows, maybe they were not quite finished. I think the same was the case with Ghost Rider -- they took more time to perfect the look from what was originally previewed, which delayed the movie. I'm extremely excited to see this, and will be there opening day.

The next new American Gladiators (Hogan & Ali) will have all the gladiators in green as a Hulk promotion.

Even Hulk... Hogan?

I went to see Iron Man this morning and the long Hulk trailer was shown...WOW! this one looks so much better than the "Ang Lee Hulk"! I bellieve this is the second Marvel property that Marvel has retained the rights to unlike Spiderman and X-Men. Too bad they were not in the postion to "hold on" to the rights for those too as well...those movies would have probably been much better. 'nuff said!

You are 100% correct! Iron Man was the first, and Incredible Hulk was the 2nd venture under Marvel's own film division. Avi Arad has said that Marvel knows better how to represent their own characters than anyone else, and he's obviously right! Looking forward to many more to come...

I'm looking forward to it myself. Didn't mind the Ang Lee version, but I agree with the lot of the complaints about it ... it was a bit too long, a bit too artsy and I wanted to set the Hulk to the Super Mario Bros theme when he went running and jumping through the desert.

It's interesting to read all the revisionist history on that movie now, about it being a "bomb" and "flop". I can certainly see the "disappointing sales" angle because it didn't replicate Spider-Man's success. On the other hand, a $130 million dollar movie that makes about $250 worldwide at the box office and then sells $250 million in DVDs is a flop that I'd happily take the profits in my back account.
