holy crap.. It is all there. Not as clear as cd sound though. No review or spoilers should be the policy out of respect for those that are holding off till Tue (all zero of you).

I will say one thing and I dont think its a spoiler.

HE sounds so much like Perry in certain parts of Faith in the heartlad its kind of a treat. I think they told him to "turn up the perry" on that one."

W O W. Journey fans, this one is a keeper. This is the best Journey since Frontiers! Journey has out down themselves this time, and exceded all expectations. Im totally blown away. Good job boys. Journey on! 8)

The 1st half of the album is one style then all the sudden about half way through everything sounds like it came right out of the Frontiers era and thats when the album punches you in the face.. Kick ass playing from deen and killer vox from Arnel... Wow.

You said it! I also noticed that Deen kicked it up a notch and plays much better than he has on other Journey releases. Every one brought their A game this time. There is not a song on here I don't like, and probably only 2 that aren't instant favorites. This is a rock solid record.

Pretty good! I like it a lot. Much better than their previous efforts in the past 10 years. Good album!. I wonder what Andrew thinks? they fixed up "Faith In The Heartland" a lot as well, it's so much better!, wow.

Solid.

I'm relieved, the whole album rocks out a lot more than I thought it would. :D

Its a great release for sure, but i really do not here the so called 'Signature Journey sound'.
If i did not know who this was, i would never think it was Journey. Schon's guitar sound maybe gives the game away a little.
However, it could be one of a gazillion AOR bands imo. Perhaps not done as well as this, obviously.

Am i the only one thinking this??

I also hear NO Steve Perry sounding vocals in there. He sounds very good indeed though.

Just my thoughts.

Arnel sounds like he is channeling Augeri on "Where Did I Lose Your Love." This was an Arrival demo, and it caught me off guard how much he sounded like the original Augeri track.

I see why they re-recorded FITHL. Fuck me !!! Arnel propels that song in to the fucking stratasphere. Talk about soaring.

Was that progressive part at the end always in FITHL ? I really disliked Augeris vox so much that I never listened to any of their stuff with him so I have never heard the whole song until now. I had heard some of it on the radio before and I was like.... Ehhh and turned it....

I don't hear any Perry-esque vocals so far either, which is good.

Gotta disagree with you on that one friend. I cant stand Augeri at all so if it reminded me of him in anyway I would get turned off in about 5 seconds. I reacted to Augeri in the same way some people react to Devo.. And it wasnt good. He is a whole different sound to me. Man it would have been interesting to hear you on these. Oh wait.. We will wont we ? Congrats on the co-writing cred man. Thats great and it looks like this album may move well so your trips to the mailbox might get a little more interesting hehe...

Wait, Where Did I Lose Your Love was written for Arrival ?

Yes it does. Even with the ballads.

If you heard the original demo you would pick up on it, though I can see where you are coming from!

I don't think Arnel imitates Perry, which is good, but I can definitely hear him chaneling the great one on Sunshower. Man, is that a killer song!

I think his tone is very similar to Augeri on a lot of this.
I have no problem with that BTW.
:)

Hey Jeremey, well done on your writing credit!
We got that track last week on a CD which came free with the UK Classic Rock. When I saw your name on there I grinned from ear to ear. Really pleased for you, mate. You must be thrilled! 8)

I've only listened to these clips on my laptop once, so I will reserve judgement until I play the actual CD through my music system.

So far I thought his vocal on "What It Takes To Win" is outstanding.
I don't think he sounds like a Perry clone, either - which is a relief.
On first hearing, "Turn Down The World Tonight" sounds a bit like a Meatloaf type song.
I don't hate any of the tracks, which is a good thing.
But I haven't heard an instant knockout one, either. I love Never Walk Away, though.
I want to hear it again a few times and savour each track.

And call me sentimental, but when I heard FITH, I immediately thought of Augeri and his vocal problems, and felt a feeling of sadness. Also a feeling of hope that the new guy manages to keep his voice healthy.

Turn Down the World Tonight is the only really soft ballad. Probably the only song I don't care for.

I know some dont agree but to me I have to say his high tenor sounds very, very perry. Big time to me. Dont dig "What It Takes To Win". Feel like I am watching a fucking 80's Rocky training montage... Eck... Dont dig Turn Down The World.. Again its lyrics. Other than that I love it.. Mr Cain.... please... no cheese. I would rather hear them as instrumentals for real. The lyrics shoot both songs right in the head.

To me, he sounds slightly like Frontiers-era Perry.

Being the huge Steve Perry fan that I am I was all ready to hate it...damn, I don't hate it, I like it. I found myself sitting here telling myself "I'm gonna have to buy this CD. I don't want to, but I'm gonna have to. It sounds great!

Does any of this remind anyone of Infinity/Evolution ?

Like a Sunshower for example.....

I hear the Augeri echo, too.
Stands to reason given it was written during the Arrival sessions.

I'm listening to it right now...I am really loving it, except for the FITH remake...Can't stand it. Arnel's vocals seem really stale and emotionless on that one. He gives a very halting, almost rote-like recitation.

The raw mp3 files sound even better when played locally, as opposed to the player on the site...
