Doesn't it only have to sell 250k for gold because of the dual disc?

Stupid rule, btw.

Sure, especially with all this publicity. The question here really is... how long will it take?

Why would you wish for their record to flop?

Yeah, I want to hear the straight answer to this, too. You can dislike what they has gone on in the last two years, and you can dislike the direction that they took...but seriously? You are really wishing that it fails?

Not all Wal-Mart exclusives sell big. REO's last album was a Wal-Mart exclusive and it didn't even chart. I even heard a couple of the new songs on the radio and it didnt' help that much.

Journey's will do better, but not THAT much better. It may eventualy go gold, in five years or so...but not by the end of this year. Not a chance.

You guys are WAY over-estimating the number of people who give a damn about new music by these bands nowadays.

1) That was REO. This is Journey.
2) The songs are better on Revelation.
3) It comes with more stuff.

It won't sell big, but I'm not gonna compare to REO Speedwagon either...

Actually, as far as #3 is concerned...REO's package was also a three-disc set. The new album, a CD of Hi Infidelity re-done, and a DVD of a live in-studio performance for XM Radio.

However, many people had the songs from Arrival waaaay before it was actually released...

I think it's going to be extremely difficult for this album to go Gold. Say it sells 55,000 packages (110,000 in sales counted) in its first week like Def Leppard did. That still leaves almost 200,000 packages to be sold. Going Gold is a tall order, folks. A very tall order.

The Wal Mart deal, as I understand it, is for a one time purchase of somewhere above 250,000 and less than 500,000 units. However the math works out, I am not sure, with the dual disc and all. May be more than 500,000 units sold world wide, but not, I don't think, through the Wal Mart deal. Unless they move several hundred thousand units in the first few weeks, which, with all due respect, does not seem likely, I can't see any further purchases being made from Nomota by WM. While I don't want to underestimate the interest in Arnel in the Phillipines and abroad, I also know that far more CDRs are sold on the streets of Manilla for $2 each than are sold at legitimate stores. With interest in Arnel being so high in that part of the world, I can see profiteering and bootlegging being a big part of moving the CD.

Definitely true. I think Gold would be quite an accomplishment, and hopefully the band isn't counting on something more to determine whether or not to make more new music in the future.

I do think that Revelation will move more than Songs From The Sparkle Lounge did in its first week, though.

Which is why I said Journey would sell more.

2) The songs are better on Revelation.

That is a matter of opinion. It's irrelevant anyway because most people will only hear the samples before purchase.

3) It comes with more stuff.

Not true.

It won't sell big, but I'm not gonna compare to REO Speedwagon either...

Then you are very foolish...since they are similar bands promoting to the same demographics, from the same era musicaly, and have similar deals from Wal-Mart.

Also, youtube wasn't around at the release of Arrival. SA isn't Filipino.

This cd will do better out the gate than Arrival.

I'm saying yes due to the ton of Filipinos who are buying it for Arnel. Or maybe it just seems like a lot of them...
