Wal-Mart Trip

Friends, just got back from the largest Wal-Mart in Texas, an honor about as prestigious as being the best ballerina in Duluth, but nonetheless, I went hoping to score a copy of Revelation early. I had listened to my mp3 copy and got more and more excited, so I though, maybe, just maybe..............

At any rate, no, even though I picked out the "slowest" looking sales associate, he wouldn't sell me a copy early. I then decided, that since I had wasted the better part of my lunch hour, I would eat at the McDonald's in Wal-Mart. Apparently it is no longer required of McDonald's employees to speak or make eye contact, so that may partially explain why my order wasn't even close.

The only saving grace was that I grabbed a large sweet tea that, as you other southerners will concur, is a staple food down here...............

Until tomorrow!

It's hotter than Satan's taint in Chicago today and I have no a/c in my car... I'd KILL for some real, good, sweet tea. That is the only thing I am homesick for.

If it's a dry heat, I'll trade you with no hesitation. I didn't realize as much humidity came off the lake as there is.

It's only mid-80s. OMG... I need a can of freon... stat. *sigh*

I don't do humidity, sorry, no trade, but it is still hot as hell here this week, dry or not.

I am sitting here contemplating travelling to the Walmart in East San Jose, Given that I am the whitest white girl you could imagine, it's a scary proposition. I'll be going to a place that is about 100% Hispanic and Asian. However, I just might be able to find someone dumb or illiterate enough to sell me a copy early. :D

I agree! I ran out at lunch to grab a couple of birthday cards and lunch (@ Wal-Mart...no luck there either) and I was surprised it wasn't just warm...it was icky warm. I need my place of employment to allow the "summer casual" dress code at work. Glad I have a pair of shorts in the car...along with the "Birks" of course!

I LOVE San Jose, but I'm not familiar enough with the city to give advice about Wal-Mart on the East side..........

I went to the WalMart here in Bedford, and just like Barb, I got nuthin. They had The Greatest Hits, The Essential, and Infinity I think. Wound up actually buying clothes. I haven't bought myself clothes in a decade.

I am not complaining ONCE about the heat this summer after the lousy spring we've had! Until Saturday, every one of my daughter's baseball games warranted an umbrella, a winter coat, or both. After all the freaking snow I shoveled this winter and the cold spring, I am a happy camper now!

I went to Wal Mart today too, but only because we were out of things we needed right away. I decided to swing through the electronics section and see if the CD was out early. It wasn't. I was tempted to ask, but then I remembered that I have a Journey t-shirt on today. It just seemed way too geeky for me to beg for the CD in my Journey t-shirt. Maybe I should show up there tomorrow in my Journey Force satin jacket.

Same here! I took a chance and drove 20 miles round-trip to our biggest one, and again, no dice... the associate said any boxes in the back would be dated so as not to open the wrong one, and also that there is actually someone that comes in around midnight to arrange their CD displays -- the regular employees do not do this. Oh, well... I'll just pick one up tomorrow. :) Thought about going at midnight tonight, but it's really not that big a deal to me at this point...

I'll bitch for about two weeks and then be happy as a pig in mud. I just have to acclimatize myself to it. :)

I'd do the midnight release thing, but honestly, I'm too old and too damn tired to stay up and drive to Wallyworld, though I will admit, that's the ONLY time it's not crowded here!!!!!

Took a Wal-Mart trip last night. Even though I did not find any pre- copies of Revelation, I did manage to be my sneaky self and walk out with something Journey.

At my Wal-mart, they had little posters in sleeves promoting REVELATION and also other songs due that week/month. The Revelation poster was in a carrier with other releases that were already released. I walked over..and without hesitation snagged the poster right out of the slot, and walked out of the store, patiently.

Atleast I walked out with SOMETHING and the poster will be a nice little addition to the group band poster we snagged in Vegas..

I'm just waiting for someone to put a decent rip online...I've managed to avoid supporting Wal-Mart in any way for my whole life, I'm not starting now. Sorry guys.

Why isn't there away for me to download it and just send the band the couple bucks they'd make from the sale (if that) directly? That's how this should work.

Just curious, but why don't you support Wal-Mart?

A big old can of worms was just opened.

I hate that chain, too. I have only been in WalMart maybe 5 times ever. Target is a much better shopping experience.

That's the plan:

1) Plant a few copies in a few stores
2) Word gets out, everyone rushes out to their local Wal-Mart
3) No CD, but while you're there, might as well pick up a few non-essentials

Because they suck.

There are several releases being exclusively held hostage by Walmart that I want, but they are not getting one red dime from me. I'll wait til the year is up or not have the album at all.

For all you people holding out on giving Wal-Mart any money at all:

For every one of you boycotting the store, there's a million more going there every day. Is it really gonna hurt you, or the store, that much to go pick up a simple CD?

I know how you feel. I wish more bands would let you buy their albums directly from them. I would buy A LOT more CDs if I could pay $10 bucks directly to the artist or even more if they sign it.

Bill Leverty of FireHouse is the perfect example - you can buy his albums direct and then he will sign them for you.
