The new song that most surprised me is ...

Postby StoneCold » Thu Jun 05, 2008 1:53 am

"Where Did I Lose Your Love" or WDILYL from now on. Damn, talk about a great song.

Deen's a monster on it, that guitar work is infectious. Is there another track taking you by surprise?

Change For The Better.
Went IN it having behind WDILYL?, WD, WITTW and right now it is my favorite on D1.

What I Needed is a stunner. Monster effort by all. The song exudes tension...kinda like Mother, Father. I really dig it.

Me, too. WDILYL and NWA are the two standouts, IMO.

Wildest Dreams- I love this song. It's the heaviest thing I can remember Journey doing.

Sunshower- I think this song's great. The harmonies blow me away. I expected to hate it with the reviews here.

What I Needed- is also great. Reminds me of early stuff before "hit" was in the Journey vocab. Cool song.

WD IS heavy as hell.

Listening to it on disc in the car I literally thought "wow the clips and youtube live version are pop compared to this." VERY hard track.

I don't think I saw those, but I know when I got to that track on the way home from WalMart yesterday, my volume knob went to 11. Just really heavy, yet riddled with hooks. Awesome tune.

To me WDILYL has somewhat of a Survivor feel to it, which is cool with me of course. It's definitely one of my favorites on the album so far.

"What I needed"...this one to me feels very sincere in emotion & honesty. There are some things in it that I wish were different (accent & bridge), but because of the depth of emotion I feel in it & the strongest SP spirit (to me he is the emotion of Journey) I would have to say this is my fave on the new stuff...it has the "Mother, Father" feel.

The title and clip of "Sunshower" did not do the song justice. Ditto for "Change for the Better"

Surprisingly, can't get enough of "Turn Down The World Tonight". That song really touches my heart. Should be the next single.

Jungle sounds? Oh, the drumming? Didn't think of it that way. Still don't really. Deen's drumming's all over this track and its great.

Its definitely no "Colors of the Spirit". Wthwt?
