This song rocks. And Arnel's voice is rockin. Sounds more like Bon Jovi than a Journey tune, which shows some diversity on the band not demanding a Steve Perry vocal on every song.

In parts, it strikes me as having more of a Foreigner vibe,
the vocals akin to Gramm on Waiting For A Girl Like You, etc.
Nice ear-candy in any case.

Some people may think the lyrics are cheesy but I like them. This song meets the high expectations I've had for it since I first heard the title. A little different from what I expected but still awesome.. I like Neal's biting riff... bahgawd.

About time Journey throws a song into the mix that doesn't have love-related lyrics.

I wanna make a bold prediction here. Journey is gonna sing this song in the 2009 Superbowl. They're close friends w/ exNiners like Brent Jones who has NFL connections.

Think the NBA stadium sound guys will get wind of this song and maybe pump it into the arenas for the NBA finals? If it doesn't make the rounds at the NFL fields this fall that's a damn shame.

I hope so, it's a bit late but it's still possible. But we'll definitely hear this a lot in NFL stadiums. But again, Journey in 2009 Superbowl would be sweet.

I was just thinking about that on the way home while it was playing but then it dawned that it was billed months ago by the band as a nothing but a pure "sports anthem" song. They lyrics are SUPPOSED to be (for a change) chliche, all sports cliches.

Exactly. Short of singing about wanting to piledrive the opponents face into the fucking ground and shit on their neck what else are you supposed to use for lyrics? The song is extremely well written.

Up there I should've put "DELIBERATELY" cliche, as in on purpose.
That said, I DIG that "Stay in the zone" line Totally cool.

The point of the song is a lot like Steve Perry's exact point with the lyrical content of the title track of ROR.

This is a great song. As soundtrack friendly as anyting they've ever done.

I really like it, especially the instruments at the beginning and AP's raspier tone. Only one part that makes me cringe - "there's no I in team"...I'd rather think of it as a song of a personal triumph rather than for a football team.

This'll probably be the soundtrack lead for the new 'Karate Kid' movie.
'Daniel-son' opens a dojo in Manilla...etc.
