Pineda + Castronovo's Vocals = Perry's Vocals

Postby Monstrock » Sun Jun 08, 2008 7:32 am

After listening to Revelation. What do you guys think? Is it legit to say now that the combination of Pineda + Castronovo's vocal quality and power is equal to that of Perry's? With the new songs, this argument seems so valid cos Arnel and Deen's harmony is magic,"Turn Down The World Tonight" is good example . In the the Live DVD, Arnel's vocal power is really spectacular in the songs like "Open Arms" and "Faithfully", while Deen's " Mother, Father" is simply amazing. Also, check out Arnel and Deen's live AATY, it's pure magic.

I just had this hilarious mental image of Normandy, except instead of soldiers it was singers, storming the beach and running towards a 20 foot tall Steve Perry.

James LaBrie, David Coverdale, Lou Gramm, Matthew Bellamy, Steven Wilson, Bobby Kimball, Don Dokken, and Jimi Jamison were all unloading from a boat and whipping out their machine guns and looking wide-eyed in fright at the monster leering before them...

Nah, I didn't even read the thread.
It just increasingly seems that every singer poll around here can best be answered with Kevin Chalfant.

Legit? No. Nuts? Yes. Get off the "as good as" routine. You can't get as good as the original singer/songwriter, who everybody liked well enough to make the songs famous by selling millions of copies. Just enjoy what has been offered up by these guys and leave the comparisons alone....cuz there is no comparison, dude. Excellent voices for sure, but not in that league.

Depends on whether the "new generation of fans" are fans of Journey because of the music or because of nationalistic reasons. I mean seriously, where were these "fans" before Pineda became lead singer? You're going to tell me those that travelled from out of state to see Journey in Vegas would have done so even if Perry were there? No way.

It's a plus for the band in terms of revenue, but lets not kid ourselves. It has little to do with the band or its music and all the little Perry detractors who are floating around Youtube claiming Arnel is better are pushing a political agenda. If they're looking to sway long time fans of the band and its music to support Arnel, that is the wrong thing to do.

What difference does it make WHY they showed up, eh?
Once they see Journey on stage, as a band and not just Arnel, they're in it for life.

The best way to relieve them of any obnoxious ignorance is to make them REAL fans.
Once they see the band for what it is onstage, they can't avoid wanting more, and learning more.

To the band? It doesn't matter. Once the ticket is purchased it's money in the bank. But the issue is the vote in this thread and who's voting and why. If the vote cast has more to do with a nationalistic agenda, then yes, it does matter because it's politics, is insincere and will have no longevity, whereas true fans of the band and its music were there before and will be there after.

True, however, we forgive babies because they're innocent and they don't have the life experience to know better. Adults who behave like babies don't get the same pass.

That being said, I like you Wech. You're a deep thinker and I appreciate people like you. Surfacey people suck. :D

No disrespect intended to all the Arnel supporters that are already on this board, but I wonder if they will stay here as Journey fans if Arnel were ever to leave -- for whatever reasons.

Once upon a time, SA had a lot of fans posting here, and especially at BT -- the official Journey forum. Where are they now? Not to mention, the JSS supporters.

People should just be happy there is still talk about Journey, and leave the different incarnations to each individual's taste.
