Amazon has it. I don't know why people would pay more when there is a Walmart in every town ( except here in L.A. of course ).

I don't get it. People say Walmart is putting the little guys out of Business but then they will go shop at Target or head to the mall. We got Targets out the wazoo in Burbank and Glendale, What is the difference between what they are doing and Walmart. Your clothing is still coming from Bangladesh or Sri Lanka in most cases, and your electronics from Taiwan or China.

Neither do I...I watched a t.v. show about Wal-Mart a while ago and nothing struck me as horrible. The people who are opposed to shopping Wal-mart are basically not looking at the entire picture...the ripple effect. They are only seeing the surface. Having a job, even if it isn't the best paying seems to me to be better than being on welfare, which is where all those workers would be if not for having a job at WM.

For one, they've been accused of encouraging their employees to use state assistance for medical care -- basically, using Medicaid as part of their health plan. Here is one of the biggest sites exposing their practices:

That's one reason a DVD I have about them is subtitled "The High Cost of Low Prices", basically saying that they end up costing us in other areas.

To be fair, it seems much of the anti-Wal-Mart sentiment is drummed up by liberal groups, who have also been accused of really hating Wal-Mart for being non-Union. When it comes to stuff like this, usually everyone has a hidden agenda.

Read "Free Lunch" by David Cay Johnston.

In there he desribes how Wal-Mart uses it's sheer size to bully local Govenrments to return to Wal-Mart, the sales tax monies it collects. This money goes directly to Wal-Mart's bottom line. Tax free.

That sales tax money is supposed to go to the various State programs that benefit EVERYONE, not just the Wal-Mart principals. Like health care for the poor, Food programs, and educational assistance.

You can shop there if you want. I prefer for my sales tax to stay in the community.

What I don't get is, WalMart is bringing low prices to the consumer...low wages and poor benefits is the trade off. I serve on a union health & welfare trust and they decided not to use Walmart for prescriptions because of their labor practices (non-union). We did a survey first and found that over 80% of the union members were using Walmart! They bitch about them being non-union, but they sure use them for lower consumer prices.

Same oxymoronic views when it comes to corporate profits. They hate corporations making profits, but then they bitch when their pension funds aren't doing so well.

Look what happened to our auto industry. It's over, done, finished. Recent example is the that GM finally found a line that was profitable...what happened? Union went quickly went on strike at that the plant that makes the car...can't remember what the hell the car is. No profits, no jobs. They'll never get it.

The Journey remasters are selling for $5.99 at my nearby Walmart. Very cool.
