Or just Cain by himself. This is a wonderfully written album with outstanding lyrics.

I can't agree with you on that one, dude. The "creative edge" is gone for me. It's a VERY sterile album.

I said it before....
If these two guys are writing THIS GOOD, I don't care if they ever get a third writer again. I think the difference is that they are hungry again. After Arrival, they nearly destroyed the band and realized that if they were going to go on, they'd need to put together a record that Journey fans would love, as opposed to "let's try and get some hits on Adult Contemporary stations".
Thank God they woke up.

they should bring in jack blades, or eric martin, for that 3rd perspective, like back in the day or the songs will all sound the same.
dont get me wrong i like the new cd,

Have to respectfully disagree with you on that bro. I loved Arrival and aside from it having too many songs on it (too many ballads,) I believe it to still be on of Journey's better post-perry albums.

Generations had only 3 real ballads on 13. IMO, Generations rock harder than Arrival or Revelation.

Ross said that play what they really wanted to play on Generations. I can imagine that it is a mini-step back with Revelation. Maybe the songwritting is stronger on Revelation...

No sorry I don't beleive that.

I don't understand at all why everybody now seems to say that Generations sucks. People seems to forget that Generations got a lot of positive reviews (on allmusic guide, it is their best rated album since Frontiers), from everywhere.

It was a flawed record and a lot of songs didn't sound as good as they should (blame the production), but it is the most experimental album Journey has done since Frontiers. As a whole it may not be as cohesive as Revelation, but Generations has an harder edge.

I think that a lot of fans don't like Journey to really rocks and prefer more pop-rock oriented songs.

I am not saying that Revelation is bad album. It's just a very safe record from Journey, nothing new. Fortunatly the songwritting is good. When I hear complains about Wildest Dreams because that song is too heavy: I just can't beleive it! If you want Enya go buy Enya. Journey is a rock band!!!

Although not necessary on this CD, Jack Blades would be a fine collaborator with them, probably only small doses though. I liked his work on Remember Me and the Arrival tracks he co-wrote on.

If they're writing this good as a duo, why? Seriously, it's a great album of new tunes. However, it does seem that with Revelation and Faith that maybe they might've been short a few songs. Having said that, I like revelation and it's kind of cool to hear something like that on a Journey album. Last one of those I remember was Majestic or Departure.

This is a kick ass album. I loved it from the first listen. I didn't get that at all from any Augeri album, not Trial By Fire nor Raised on Radio. I think the naysayers are crossed up out of loyalty, and I respect that. But I just can't see anyone not liking this record.

I don't know..call us crazy, but maybe we just have a different opinion? And maybe we aren't saying anything out of loyalty..but maybe out of a personal liking or disliking? Why does everything have to be right or wrong? We are 'crossed up' because we don't think Revelation is the second coming of Jesus? Get over yourself.

First of all, I could care less if I get a nice response..it wasn't my point. You accused people that didn't think this album was as good as you think they should think it is, as being screwed up Kool-Aid drinkers. You didn't write it as an opinion. You wrote it as fact. And my point, which you failed to realize, is that just because people don't think its the cat's meow, doesn't make them 'crossed up' or blindly loyal.

I didn't accuse anyone of anything, nor did I say anything about Image. :D I said "I think" which means it was a thought I had. Doesn't make it fact. Just processing ideas here. If they're wrong then fine. But it gives us something to discuss. I certainly wasn't trying to offend anyone. If I did, my apologies.

Rick, not trying to start anything, just playing devil's advocate. I don't see too many people saying this record sucks. If you say there are naysayers who are crossed up out of loyalty (to whatever/whomever), then doesn't it stand to reason there are also Journey loyalsts among us who will always claim that their favorite band's latest effort is the best .....?

I mean, come on, I read statements back in the not too distant past that Arrival was their best record with or without Perry. Generations was their most cutting edge with or without Perry. So, now we have Revelations, and it's being touted as the best since Frontiers ....

Damn, all this talk and comparisons. I'm going to have to get the record and listen for myself to have any kind of credibility :) .

When someone like Rick makes a post in here and has been here as long as he has, I just think it's rude for someone new like yourself to come in here and be an ass without being provoked. All he said was he basically likes the new album and THINKS that anyone who doesn't, may not like it because they feel partial to one singer or another. I agree with him. It IS a kick-ass album. of course, that's just my OPINION. If people don't like it, I'm fine with that, but I don't see how anyone who likes melodic rock wouldn't. Just me I guess.

You come in here and say he's calling you a "Kool-aid" drinker, and put words in his mouth. He even tried to apologize if he offended you, yet you still carried on.

I'm not saying you shouldn't be posting in here, as we're ALL welcome here. This place wouldn't exist without opposing ideas and debating. I apologize for the name calling too. it wasn't called for, but Rick's a friend. I just think you should just try to be a little more considerate when saying what you have to say. He didn't call you out by name, or say anything derogatory to you...

That is pretty cut-and-dried to me. People don't like the album because they are loyal to SP, SA, or JSS. Not because they think AP is a bad singer, or the songs just plain suck or anything weird like that.

Maybe you guys just don't want to see anyone not liking this record because it'll kill your Journey buzz.

But that's just my opinion. Hopefully since I've been here since 2005, I'll be allowed to speak it.

And I've been here longer than both you and Rick and I think he was out of line.

I think the naysayers are crossed up out of loyalty, and I respect that. But I just can't see anyone not liking this record.

I generalized and shouldn't have. I should have said 'some naysayers'. And I know that to be the case. I also said I respect that. It ain't killing my buzz dammit all!
