Sad.

Hollywood legend Paul Newman is reportedly suffering from lung cancer. The Daily Star claims that the actor was recently diagnosed at New York's Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, where he is currently receiving outpatient treatment. "It's so awful," a family member is quoted as saying. "He's dying."

The 83-year-old actor is a former chain-smoker.
Newman recently pulled out of directing a Connecticut stage version of Of Mice and Men.
Newman's wife of 50 years, Joanne Woodward, is said to be devastated over her husband's diagnosis

83 years old with a history as a chain smoker makes him extremely lucky that he's made it this far.

Not to mention all his car racing! That is probably more dangerous than the smoking!

Without trivializing the man's illness I think it's worth pointing out that most people would would have loved to live the life he's lived. It's check out time for him. Plain and simple. Gonna happen to us all eventually. Though I doubt we'll have lived the luxirious life he has. All the best to Paul Newman. Seems like a great human being. 8)

Sad.

He has lived a full life and he has lived it HIS WAY. I am sure his regrets are few.

I even have Newman's Own Organic Coffee (though it's not the brand I've been serving here lately)... Paul Newman rocks! My best wishes for him and his family...

I hope that whatever time he has left is peaceful and spent with the people he loves.

Mr. Newman has a lifetime of achievements in this life; he has made wondrous contributions in the world of film and theatre and has been an excellent father to his children and husband to his wife. I am sure that as he moves to "lighter air" he will make the transition as only he can with style, class and grace and allow his metamorphis to be gentle in this move to eternal life and his flowers to grow and continue to fragrant the world with its beauty to always be remembered.

Considering that the orginal report was from the Daily Globe, I guess this revision is no surprise. He does look awful thin and frail though.
