shame

I hope the fuck you're only trying to 'shame' those you feel are deluded,
because if you were to try to diss Steve Perry, as a 'shame' for his battle scars,
which he earned in the hard course of giving you a musical legacy,
you'd be lower than fucking slug shit.

BWAHAHAHA!!!

He definitely sounded bad in that clip. We ALL have off nights though. Listen to this clip that was recorded 11 years after that clip...If all we get is an album w/no tour, I'm happy! If he sang like this 3 years ago (after not recording for years), I'm sure he can get another album out of those pipes.

Haha no no, I respect Perry for everything he did for Journey.

After reading the GQ interview, more of the puzzle pieces seem to come together. I'm guessing there are days when he can sing well and days he can't, but there is no consistency to it. If that is the case, how frustrating.

All he has to do is hit the studio when he's having a good day, and we'll have an album in no time. I AM of course being extreemly hopefull here!!!

I don't know what y'all are talking about. He was a tad rough on one note or two, other than that he nailed it. :D It was the first night of the tour, he just hadn't gotten back into the swing yet. 8)

These videos of Perry in later years are just too painful to watch. I'd rather just watch the older videos in his prime so I will only remember the good times. When I think of Perry, I want to think of his beautiful music and not these kinds of videos. That's why I watched "Houston Live 1981" last night to remind me how godly and awesome SP was. As what a previous poster said, Perry's current vocal conditions are the scars he got in his battle of bringing us great music. There's nothing embarrassing about that, he fought the good fight!

I think we should just all move on, remembering the legacy and greatness of Steve Perry and his contribution to music, while at the same time clinging to the hope that the new Journey with the new voice will continue to give us more great music for the next few years.

'My salute to the great Steve Perry and all members of Journey: past, present and future. It's all about the Music!!!

I'm going to go on record and complete agree with you. After reading another similar discussion thread, that this thread was linked to, you hit all my sentiments. Sorry it ain't what it was Steve, but thanks for all you've done.

Also, another album, and no tour is fine by me. Please call up Randy Goodrum again, you guys did some great work.

Finally, one show with all members Journey reunion would be nice. I know wishful thinking

hehe...Someone pass this message of appreciation to Perry...p.p.p.p.please

Speaking on the idea of a reunion show, which songs wouldyou think Perry should sing on, that he could releastically execute? Consider some assistance from Arnel, Deen, or Augiere, in only scenarios where absolutely necessary...

BTW - proof of Perry's godliness, neither Deen nor Arnel sing the outro vocal 'oooh waahhh ohhhh!....' of Mother Father, it's all keyboards

I love the end of Mother Father on the Houston DVD, but to me, it ALWAYS seems mimmed as many times as a watch it. I really dont want to believe it but I think it just may be.

If Perry did rejoin (wich he wont and he shouldnt either, the rest of the Journey boys have kept the boat sailing, I dont want Perry jumping back on and thinking that he is running the show) then I couldnt see them singing to many songs strainging his voice probably sing stuff like ;

DSB
When you love a woman
Possibly Faithfully
a few of TBF no doubt.
Stone In Love

Man -What-ever-the-f___, Steve Perry is living his life, he's not singing to be judged on American Idol. The critique is bs

I never thought it was dubbed, but man, if so, he does a hell of a 'mime' impersonation, shit, I'd almost award him a prize for that. Him and Whitney Houston (*recalls the Super-bowl National Anthem*), should team up!

That's a decent assessment above, let's consider dropped keys too, would he reach Open Arms?

I think DSB would be mandatory. God damn, that song is in the top 5 of all time downloads for iTunes. You know how many people KNOW and love that song? It's rediculous.

weird part about it was that the rest of the show was fine....and I don't think Stone in Love ever made a return appearance on the FTLOSM tour. His voice wasn't shot--he had just lost some range, and that song was at the upper end of what he had at the time. It's a higher song than it would appear on the surface--and it's consistently high, not just the occasional high note here and there like a lot of the others.

I know, I just posted pretty much the same thing you did, about the first song Only The Young performance from that show, in this thread. http://forums.melodicrock.com/phpBB/vie ... 1&start=90
