Deen, Augeri, Arnel and those other guys

Not one to post often and never one to really stick my beak in, I just have a couple of thoughts on a few things.
- Arnel - WOW!!! He's got a HUGE voice. He did a great job putting his own spin on the original songs. He definitely took some of his vocal cues from Perry but, he didn't try to sound like him or oversing. We've all heard remakes, tributes, live recordings, etc. of these songs by other singers and they never really captured the feeling of the song or sounded right. It's hard when you compare all of these great songs to the original vocals but, these were done very well. Nice job. One thing...I only hope, for the sake of his career and personal well-being, that he doesn't blow his voice up singing those big songs in the original keys. I hope he holds something back when he's singing live. It would be a shame to burn out right away.
- Deen - This dude ROCKS!! I'm not talking about his playing. He's a great, great drummer but, Steve Smith is one of the top 10 in the entire world. Even Deen would tell you that Smitty outclasses him. No, I'm talking about his personal "Thank You" to Steve Augeri in his liner notes. That was beyond cool. He didn't have to but, he showed an amazing amount of class by doing that. He knows what went down, "tapegate", how Steve was treated by the other guys and management. They even re-recorded one of his songs with Arnel when the original was perfectly fine, albeit on a very bad album. He knows how Steve was abused and not given anywhere near enough credit for his contributions to the band...certainly no public praise whatsoever. Steve Augeri was given a raw deal in the end and was treated badly. Hit-and-run left on the side of the road to bleed to death...never to be spoken of again. Deen stood up and publicly recognized him and even called him "friend" and "brother".
How did a guy with so much class get hooked up with guys like Jon and Neal?
