Thought I’d take a stab at the timeline that seems to be adding up to Journey’s success this year.

Spring-07 Don’t Stop Believin’ on Sopranos
Mid-07 WalMart Deal
12/07 Announce AP as new frontman – YouTube and Cinderella Story
02/08 Chile Concert – Great reception from the Chileans and worldwide viewing
03/08 Record kickass album
03/08 Las Vegas Concert – Interview with GQ’s Alex Pappademas
05/08 GQ huge story released – Garners a lot of attention
06/08 Ellen show per her request. - Huge exposure
06/08 Release Revelations – Tremendous support by fans especially AP fans
06/08 MR Review – The Wombat calls it like he hears it and keeps personal shit out of it
06/08 CBS Sunday Morning - Great story. 4.5 million viewers
06/08 NYTimes review - “Rock Vitamins”
06/08 Revelation debuts at #5 on Billboard top 200
06/08 Revelation debuts at #2 on Billboard top Internet Downloads
06/08 Revelation debuts at #1 on Billboard Indy Albums
06/08 AATY climbs to #23 on Billboard singles.
06/08 Makes People mag.
?/08 Time mag – Who knows what this will be?

I think the real jump start to this whole phenomenon was the Chili concert. Every Journey fan owes a debt to those folks in Chili and also the GQ interview. GQ garnered a lot of attention and helped to keep that ball rolling. Thanks Alex.

Exactly what was said in another post earlier. It takes talent, timing and a lot of luck to hit things big. I hope Journey has found that formula again.

Feel free to correct at will. :D

Edited to include Ellen per StoneCold.

OOPS - How could I forget that one. I expected it to be more, but it was still huge.

You've got your dates a little mixed up....the Revelation album was recorded in December. The Vegas concert was March 8th, where they recorded the DVD.
