This was the beginning of the end for Augeri. I love the guy, but his voice was shredded when I saw them 2x in 2005 during the 30th anniversary tour. Why do you think they did so many songs w/o him on lead vocals?

and yet it did not occur to them that perhaps they should take some time off and not tour in 06????
let alone let the man warm up and not sing for 45 minutes and do at least five shows a week 3 hour sets for 8 months???
by the end of that tour I am sure they were all not in good shape physically. curious what would have happened had they taken some time off and to record generations.
Too bad they are motivated by greed money and not common sense.

OUCH is right! That was very sad to watch...Augeri's voice was toast! :( You can arguably understand why they went to tapes, but they probably should have cancelled that tour, or at least postponed it.

That was the year they were doing the 3 hour shows right? It's like they were trying to burn him out. :x

I think they wanted to do it for themselves and lot of fans bitching about DD only shows.
They figured all would sing given that Augeri was getting tired as far back as the Main Even tour, which was also the point of having mutiple singers on Generations.
They figured they'd pull it off but clearly GROSSLY understimated the poor condition of Augeri's pipes.
That said, 2 mof my prized boots for setlists alone are Irvine (no tapes) and LA (tapes).

The pre perry setlists were SICK. 8)

I would not say he sounded bad at any of the shows I attended. I think it is too bad that he was struggling
and having the problems voice and medically he was having and yet the band continued to hurry through cds
and book outragously long sets and tours.
seems like greed was the factor and not much common sense.

Well...Not so much...Augeri barley sang in the first half of the show, while Deen, Ross, Neal all sang lead in the second set. It was a normal night
for Augeri when you think about it.

Tapes aside, that was a great tour! Incredible setlists... :D
