I doesn't look like Journey is one of the groups:

USA Today wrote:Old 'Ball Game' will get new treatments on ESPN

As the sports schedule slows down in summer, TV networks — especially ESPN — become more unbuttoned. So maybe it's not too much to hope that finally we might be able to see, say, rockers play Take Me Out to the Ball Game and then smash their guitars.

But you won't see it from ESPN analyst Peter Gammons, who will play Ball Game on-air Sunday (7 p.m. ET) in a sort of homage to the late guitar legend Bo Diddley: "It's how Bo Diddley would have played it."

And ESPN's Baseball Tonight on Monday will begin airing music videos from nine musical acts — including REO Speedwagon — playing the 100 year-old anthem. (FYI: Lyricists Jack Norworth and Albert Von Tilzer never went to a baseball game — and weren't even interested in the sport. Art needn't imitate life.)

The idea, says ESPN producer Jay Levy, is to create a battle of the bands decided by online voting, starting June 29, with a winner announced July 13: "Personally, I'm a huge American Idol fan, so I figured why not have our own little American Idol."

Other contestants: Jazz guitarist John Pizzarelli, bluegrass band Punch Brothers, rhythm-and-blues singer Lloyd, rockers The Cab, country singer Gretchen Wilson, Latin and salsa hip-hop group Ozomatli — "they're fabulous," Gammons says — as well as saxophonist Branford Marsalis and rockers Candlebox.

But just so the pros would be represented, ESPN should also include a ballpark organist.

Uh, yeah they are. Mentioned in the first paragraph.

Or you can try this one instead. Journey is mentioned in the headline on this one, so it doesn't matter if you actually read the article or not. ...8) :

Actually, the Journey mention is by the blogger, but not in the original story that I linked to.

The second link you posted is referencing your original link, and as such is getting the Journey info via the blogger, not the USA Today story.

I wonder which journey video is going to be shown, it says nine bands will compete like REO Speedwagon Ozzomatti (if that is spelled correctly).

The original story states that 9 different artists will play Take Me Out To The Ballgame. Journey is not mentioned...

The point of this thread is that Journey will be included in this show. That is mentioned in the link I provided in my OP, as well as in the Rolling Stone piece I also linked to .

Pretty simple...

Please look at the source of the story that you linked to from USA Today - no mention of Journey. That's the text I posted in my first post. The blogger referencing the USA Today story commented on Journey, but the original story does not mention Journey. It states 9 artists will play the song, and then lists 9 artists, none of which are Journey.

The Rolling Stone piece gets its information from the blog, not the original USA Today, and thus only repeats the incorrect information the blogger posted.

Baseball Tonight Lets Fans Select Best
“Take Me Out to the Ballgame” Music Video

Branford Marsalis, Gretchen Wilson, REO Speedwagon & More to Perform

ESPN’s Baseball Tonight will commemorate the 100th anniversary of “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” – the famous seventh inning stretch song – with a “battle of the bands” featuring nine musical performers including Branford Marsalis, Gretchen Wilson and REO Speedwagon. Artists recorded their own version of “Take Me Out to the Ballgame,” which will be televised on Baseball Tonight with the overall winner to be determined Sunday, July 13.

“‘Take Me Out to the Ballgame’ is a big part of baseball's history and this ‘Battle of the Bands’ project is the perfect convergence of sports and music,” said Jay Levy, ESPN senior coordinating producer. “The diverse mix of artists who took part in this project will connect with fans of all ages and all tastes of music. It will be a fun and entertaining way to pay tribute to the song's milestone anniversary.”

Baseball Tonight will launch the initiative Sunday, June 15, at 7 p.m. ET with Peter Gammons performing his version of the song. Gammons will also host each of the segments throughout the series. The music videos, voted on by fans via ESPN.com, will be shown beginning June 16 (schedule below) across various ESPN outlets – Baseball Tonight, MLB game telecasts (Sunday, Monday and Wednesday), SportsCenter and ESPN.com. Voting will begin on June 29, once all the videos have been aired. On Sunday, July 6, the top three will be announced. The winner will be named Sunday, July 13, during Baseball Tonight at 7 p.m.

Musicians include:

John Pizzarelli ( June 16 )
Punch Brothers ( June 18 )
Lloyd ( June 20 )
The Cab ( June 21 )
Gretchen Wilson ( June 22 )
Ozomatli ( June 23 )
Branford Marsalis ( June 25 )
Candlebox ( June 28 )
REO Speedwagon ( June 29 )

Additionally, ESPN.com will launch a customized page – (keyword: “Take Me Out”); also linked to from the Baseball Tonight Clubhouse page – on June 15, devoted to “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” and the music videos. The page will include a synopsis of each artist, a schedule of their debuts, and a video clip of their performance (following TV reveal). Interactive polling will begin after all music videos have debuted.
