This song has definately evolved over the years from the version I remember from Caddyshack. Does anyone prefer one style over the other? I like the Frontiers era one but it appears Steve went back to singing the older style on his solo tour.
Any particular favorite or are you sick of the song by now?

I definatly like the original version. Bugged the hell out of me when they sped it up on Greatest Hits Live.

The original version is still the best to me. Also one of the hottest Schon solos done in the studio from the early years.

they play this like kiss plays lick it up, way to fast
someone tell the band to listen to the original , and slow it back down, still the all time best journey song

Hate that song when it is played fast. The end where perry says Anywayyyyyyyyyyyyy...............Anyway a ayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy. HAS to be there and be studio right or it kills the climactic ending.....

I feel the opposite. I love the fast rockin' one. You can't really dance and rock out to much when it comes to Journey so if they have to speed some shit up so the whole set list isn't putting people to sleep, then I'm all for that.

I like your version.... The original sounds the best to me. To me Perry sounded better on studio recordings, than live . Its hard to compare the two, plus they played everything so fucking fast live

Studio. The band never had a good feeling with this live. The harmonies weren't as good (or compressed).
I think that THIS Journey plays the song live better than old Journey ever did. It's more true to the original. The song is one riff repeated over and over again... It's a good studio tune, not so much live.

I prefer live, but I'm not a big fan of this song in any format.

Moyes Lucas, Jr.'s vocals were way too loud on that tour.

Sounds like a soundman problem...

The Revelation version is one of the best on D2.

I actually prefer Augeri's versions of this...thought he did this song really well, and his voice is well suited for it.
Except for the last long high note, which is just out of his range, but he usually danced his way around it fine.

Perhaps, but the three concerts I went to and the bootlegs I've seen, it was always jacked up. I don't know if that was by design or what.
