Curious how these guys fare against Bruce. For anyone who doesn't know the music:

John Mellencamp - Authority Song

Bob Seger - Beautiful Loser

I have never been a huge Bruce fan. Some songs are ok. I love John but gotta go with my motor city boy Bob!

Mellencamp & definitely Bruce are too political for my taste. I go with Seger.

My sentiments exactly. Mellencamp and Springsteen could walk off of a cliff and I wouldn't blink.

Ironic though. Bruce's singing a serious anti-war song and the audience is smilin' & be-boppin' like its the early Beatles. See 1:35 as he sings "We just stack the bodies outside the door".

I don't agree politically with everything he sings or says but I dig his music. This was a great performance of the song.

Seger was NEVER my kind of music. And I agree Springsteen and Mellencamp should entertain their paying guests or go volunteer for their politican choice !

Have to go with Mellencamp, so many great tunes.....his Cherry Bomb tour is still up there in my top 10 concerts......he had the whole arena up on their feet dancing, never seen anything like it.......great stuff! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WGoQNXWgopg

Almost made it a tough one though, the one you posted of Bob Seger's is one of my favorites of his..........bought the Live Bullet album back in the day mainly for that song.

Seger hands down.

Springsteen always sounds to me like he needs a triple dose of X-Lax.

That one sax piece in "Turn the Page" does things to me even I can't yet comprehend. Something between shakes my core and transcendence. 8)

...So Seger.

Where's the "I don't care for ANY of them" button? That would get my vote. I don't know what it is, but I just don't like them at all! I know they have a lot of fans, but I just can't listen to it. Also no fan of the Rolling Stones, even though I'm probably the only one who doesn't. Oh well...back to Journey!

Seger's song "The Fire Inside" is a classic....classic classic classic. Love that huy. I love all three to be honest, but Seger is probably out front these days (despite the boring last album).

The best Seger song ever. Love it. I think I'll take Mellencamp... he "rocks" the most and probably is the best singer of the three. I enjoy em all tho.

Totally agree with this. I didn't pay to see Mellencamp show some 20 minute political propaganda video. I felt totally ripped off, should have demanded a refund.

Considered including John but he's famous for CCR so it would've muddled the "heartland male singer with a backing band" poll. Thought Bruce would take it going away but Seger's great so its good to see him getting some kudos.

Springsteen, though I think all three are fine artists.
As we Bruce fans say, those who say they don't like the Boss have never seen him live!

Hardly! Look at Segar's gray, paunchy ass today and compare it to Springsteen's fit as a fiddle 60 year old! The Boss and the E Street band sound as better today than they did in the 80's!

But, with that said, Segar has kicked all kinds of ass in his career! Mellancamp has been a bit spotty to me of late, particularly after he lost many of his core band members back in the 90's. And I just don't think his song output has been strong since HUMAN WHEELS. I realize that the Boss may be an acquired taste on record, but I'll say it again- SEE HIM LIVE! It's all about the show.

DAMN- where's Deano when I need him????

 Yeah. I have no Mellancamp on my iPod, one Springsteen song (Born to Run), and about a dozen Seger tunes. Thus, Seger gets my vote.
