What an idiot. The DH is a dumb rule anyway. If you're playing in the game, you should be taking your turn at the plate...and this is coming from a long-time American League fan and specifically Red Sox fan. Hitting and baserunning is part of the game. Deal with it.

The DH was implemented by the American League to stimulate scoring and attendance. It's a sellout position usually reserved for a one trick pony that can no longer play the field...if he ever could. Starting pitchers play one fucking day out of every five. They should be jogging, doing sprints, practicing bunting and their everyday work on the 4 days they have off. Avoiding non-arm related injuries should be a piece of cake for these guys. Hank Steinbrenner is a fuckin' creep.

Ok, coming from a Yankee fan. I don't agree with what Steinbrenner says. I agree that both leagues should have the same rules...however I don't see why pitchers shouldn't be able to pick up a bat, possibly get a hit and possibly have to run. I never understood the reasoning behind the DH.

What a stupid thing to say. I never understood why the AL has designated hitters anyways. I agree that someone who is talented enough to be in the major league should be able to hit the ball occasionally. I was at a minor league game on Friday, and one thing we all noticed is how all of the players were trim and in shape. So many of the players in the majors now are fat! Maybe some are pumped up on steroids, but I don't think the steroids give them a big gut! I'm a runner, and I can't say that I've ever hurt my arm while running.

As a life-long Red Sox fan, I could relate to the drought, but was still hoping those fuckers would fall on their face! ANY team with NY emblazoned across their chest simply makes my blood boil! It's a beautiful thing seeing the Tampa Rays 3.5 games AHEAD of the Yankees in the standings!

In all seriousness, dude, I truly have been hoping for monumental NYY collapse after NYY collapse, so that it would force some change in the home office and how they do their jobs.

I was convinced I would get such satisfaction after the 'hated' Red Sox handed the yankees a series defeat after being up 3-0. It never happened....most other teams would have had their manager and general manager out on the highway hitch hiking as a result...The reason why George didn't fire Brian Cashman (and wont) is because Brain is a yes man. A face to put to the 'George' moves....it's too bad. Every other GM that actually stood up to George and demanded the right of refusal on a contract move made by George, has been fired.


Sadly, now that George is fading away....we've got Hankenstein (the fucking guy actually looks like he was created out of spare body parts)...Hankenstein has all of the micromanaging tendancies that George had....but coupled with youth and vinegar. It's going to be a tough time for Yankee fans for the next few years....

Enjoy it John...it's going to get ugly in new york for at least 3-4 years, I predict...This year should be exceptionally ugly, given the fact that the team is still saddled with usless wastes of salary and oxygen (namely, Jason Giambi, Mike Mussina, Hideki Matsui, and at times, Johnny Damon)

Well, I think Damon, at times, has shown his future. I'm glad he's playing less center field...because I thought his arm was a significant downgrade from Bernie Williams...and I used to frequently say "Bernie Williams runs like a deer, but throws like a deer"

I've come to the conclusion that the majority of the yankee's acquisitions are simply guys that have beaten up on the yanks in the past. Damon's chances to become a yankee went up a hundred fold, when he slammed that homer into the upper right field stands against the yankees during that historic collapse.
