Willy's a bad manager but to me Minaya is the bigger culprit here.
Put together a team with disasterous chemistry.

You have younger, impressionable all star calibre latinos like Reyes and Beltran looking up to a carcinogen like Delgado as a big brother figure that's not good.

If they think Jerry Manuel is the answer, they're out of their fuckin' minds. I'm assuming he is only interim. Everyone is making a big deal about the 3:15 am time of firing. Big deal.

Have to agree with the second statement, not the first. I do not believe willy was that bad...he's just a little too much like Torre.

The mets have been making the same mistakes as the yankees for several years. Piss poor general management. Buying big names to put asses in the seats, instead of looking forward to a championship....

Minaya has been doing George Steinbrenner like deals since he came into his position. Buying old, big name talent with huge salaries doesn't gaurantee anything except the following:

1) bad chemistry
2) an eventual choke by the whole team sometime between sept and october.

The above 2 things have plagued the yankees AND mets for years....

See...this is what I hate...they were HOW close to going to the WS again last year with him, but the PLAYERS fucked up with the Phillies. This time around...they blame the coach, but it's the PLAYERS fucking up YET AGAIN. "Hey...let's blame Him", instead of themselves. Mets are my favorite MLB team, but they just fucking SUCK this year. They're, what, 9 games back now??? (Correct me if I'm wrong) COME THE FUCK ON. That's not Willie's fault. It's the players playing like shit and blaming it on the mngr. Sorry for the rant.

They were actually closer in 06 when they went to the 7th game of the NLCS against St. Louis. They didn't even make the playoffs last year. You can't be close to going to the WS if you don't make the playoffs.

When the Mets sputtered in April, the backstabbing began, with Randolph being undermined along the way. Words of Randolph's honest player evaluations in those staff meetings somehow made their way to the ears of players. That left the manager in a brutal position of trying to draw performance out of veterans who heard that behind closed doors the manager wasn't so sure if they had the right stuff anymore. Some on-field staff members doubted whether they could trust the front office.

At some point, it became a situation where Randolph wasn't allowed to do his job. The quote above shows that.

He has been undermined by the assistant GM Tony Bernazard since at least the beginning of 2007. The latin players on the team ran to Bernazard like a child who's father just said 'no', so they run to Mommy who says yes.

Minaya hedged his bets on 4 players, and all 4 have busted. Hernandez, Martinez, Sanchez, and Alou have all been injured this year. So because of that, and injuries to pretty much 1/2 the roster, Randolph was left with a ton of bench players as starters.

To know you're going to fire him, let him board a cross-country flight, have him manage and WIN the night's game, and then fire him at 3 FUCKING AM is beyond classless. Who the fuck would want to manage this team after this? Any person who signs on to be a full-time manager with Omar and the Wildopes at the helm is a whore in my eyes. Willing to get fucked for the cash.

I guarantee the line would be out the door to manage that team. If the Raiders can find a butt boy...the Mets, with that lineup, will have no problems finding their next Bitch!
